Abstract: A process for working up by distillation hydroformylation reaction mixtures which have been obtained by the reaction of olefins with carbon monoxide and hydrogen at elevated temperature and superatmospheric pressure in the presence of a carbonyl complex of a metal of Group VIII of the Periodic Table which has been modified with an organic phosphine, wherein said mixture is distilled in the presence of a carboxylic acid.
