Abstract:
WHEREIN N ZERO OR AN INTEGER FROM 1 TO 12, R'' R or -OSiR3 and EACH R is, independently of the others, an alkyl, alkenyl or monocyclic aryl radical with up to 18 carbon atoms, but chosen with the proviso that the numerical ratio of the sum of all carbon atoms to the sum of all silicon atoms is from 4 : 1 to 20 : 1. By this additive, a polish of higher resistance to detergents, better gloss retention and more resistance to finger-marking is obtained.
A conventional polish comprising an organopolysiloxane oil and wax is improved, according to the invention, by adding from 2 to 40 per cent by weight of an organosiloxane of the general formula
Abstract:
In the production of high polymer polyorgano-siloxane convertible to silicone elastomers, oligomeric organo-siloxanes and catalyst are stirred in an upright container. The stirring is effected with a spiral stirrer disposed along the wall of the container, while the center of the container is free of conveyor means for free axial flow of the polymerizing material therethrough.
Abstract:
THE METHOD OF PRODUCING TRIS-(TRIMETHYLSILOXY)-PHENYLSILANE BY HYDROLYTIC REACTION OF TRIMETHYLCHLOROSILANE, PHENYLTRICHLOROSILANE AND WATER IS IMPROVED TO GIVE SIGNIFICANT RISE OF YIELD BY CARRYING OUT THE REACTION, ACCORDING TO THE INVENTION, IN THE PRESENCE OF HEXAMETHYLDISILOXANE IN A PROPORTION OF O.2 TO 12 MOLS PER MOL OF PHENYLTRICHLOROSILANE, APPLYING A MOLAR RATIO OF TRIMETHYLCHLOROSILANEE TO PHENYLTRICHLOROSILANE OF BETWEEN 3.3:1 AND 4:1 AND ADDING THE WATER GRADUALLY, IN EXCESS, UNTIL THE HYDROLYSIS IS COMPLETE. THIS PROCESS IS FURTHER IMPROVED BY ADMIXING THE ADDITIONALLY EMPLOYED HEXAMETHYLDISILOXANE SOME TIME BEFORE THE ADDITION OF ANY OTHER INGREDIENT WITH AN ACID EQUILIBRATION CATALYST, PREFERABLY FOLLOWED BY HEATING.
Abstract:
EXCELLENT HYDROPHOBIC PROPERTIES AND PLEASANT GLOSS ARE IMPARTED TO SOLID, ESPECIALLY SMOTH, SURFACES, FOR EXAMPLE LACQUER COATINGS OF THE BODIES OF MOTOR VEHICLES, BY APPLYING THERETO, ACCORDING TO THE INVENTION, NEW COATING COMPOSITIONS CONTAINING AS THE EFFECTIVE AGENT AN ORGANOPOLYSILOXANE WHICH IS AMINOMETHYL-SUBSTITUTED ON AT LEAST TWO OF ITS SILOXANE UNITS, CORRESPONDING TO THE FORMULA
IN WHICH P IS AN INTEGER GREATER THAN 25, A IS 0 OR 1, N IS AN INTEGER GREATER THAN (1-A) AND SMALLER THAN P/10, R AND R'', INDEPENDENTLY OF ONE ANOTHER, ARE HYDROGEN ATOMS OR ALKYL OR CYCLOALKYL RADICLS HAVING LESS THAN 9 CARBON ATOMS, AND X IS A MONOVALENT ACID RADICAL.
