Abstract: A fluid delivery system and method for determining whether the correct fluid is being drawn into and/or dispensed from a syringe. The system includes a syringe, a fluid injector for drawing fluid into and dispensing fluid from the syringe, one or more sensors adapted to measure a force required to draw the fluid into and/or dispense the fluid from the syringe, a processor in communication with the one or more sensors, and a non-transitory, computer-readable storage medium in operable communication with the processor. The computer-readable storage medium contains one or more programming instructions that, when executed, cause the processor to receive from the one or more sensors one or more measurements of the force required to draw the fluid into and/or dispense the fluid from the syringe and determine from the one or more measurements whether a correct fluid is being drawn into and/or dispensed from the syringe.

Abstract: A rolling diaphragm syringe includes a proximal end having an end wall, a distal end having an open-ended discharge neck, a sidewall extending along a longitudinal axis, and a piston engagement portion protruding proximally from a central portion of the end wall and configured for engagement with a piston of a fluid injector. The piston engagement portion has a stem with a first end attached to the end wall, a second end extending proximally from the first end, and at least one protrusion that protrudes radially outward. The sidewall is flexible and rolls upon itself when acted upon by the piston such that an outer surface of the sidewall is folded in a radially inward direction as the piston is advanced from the proximal end to the distal end, and unfolded in a radially outward direction as the piston is retracted from the distal end to the proximal end.

Abstract: A fluid container having a proximal end having an end wall, a distal end having an open-ended neck, and a sidewall extending between the proximal end and the distal end along a longitudinal axis is described. A localized crystallinity of a polymeric material of the fluid container of at least a first region of the fluid container is greater than a crystallinity of a polymeric material of the fluid container of at least a second region. Examples of fluid containers include medical fluid containers, such as medical bottles and syringes, including rolling diaphragm-type syringes, and commercial beverage containers Articles of manufacturer formed form a polymeric material and having regions with increased localized polymeric crystallinity are also described.

Abstract: A syringe for delivery of a medical liquid to a container has a body with proximal end, a frustoconical distal end, and a cylindrical sidewall extending between the proximal end and the distal end along a longitudinal axis. The syringe includes a nozzle at a distal portion of the frustoconical distal end of the syringe, the nozzle having a throughbore providing fluid communication between an interior volume of the syringe and a medical connector configured to be connected to the nozzle. The nozzle includes a plurality of longitudinal ribs formed on an inner surface of the nozzle. The syringe is designed so that the plurality of longitudinal ribs directs a flow of a medical fluid along an inner surface of the frustoconical distal end and along an interior surface of the cylindrical sidewall of the syringe under a Coand{hacek over (a)} effect. Syringe and connector assemblies and methods for reducing a number of bubbles formed in a medical fluid during a syringe filling procedure are also described.
