摘要: There is disclosed an apparatus for controlling the temperature of discrete sample containers in analytical instrumentation. A conveyor containing discrete samples to be analyzed is located in a subcompartment within a larger enclosure. A fan is mounted in a first opening in the subcompartment to move air from the large enclosure into the subcompartment. A second opening in which a thermal energy transfer element is mounted allows the passage of the air over the thermal energy transfer element back into the larger enclosure. A temperature sensor contacts a sample container being measured to provide a control signal which is applied to a proportionally controlled power supply connected to the thermal energy transfer element.

摘要: AN APPARATUS FOR BATCH ANALYSIS OF LIQUID SAMPLES WHEREIN SYRINGES ARE EMPLOED FOR DELIVERING REPEATABLE VOLUMES OF REAGENT TO A CELL PRIOR TO THE ADDITION OF A SAMPLE AND FOR WITHDRAWING LIQUID FROM THE CELLA AFTER ANALYSIS THEREOF. SENSING MEANS, SUCH AS A POLAROGRAPHIC OXYGEN SENSOR, IS MOUNTED IN THE SIDE WALL OF THE CELL WITH ITS SENSING CONTACTING THE LIQUID THEREIN. A STIRRING ELEMENT IS POSITIONED WITHIN THE CELL AND ROTATED ABOUT THE VERTICAL AXIS OF THE CELL SO THAT A HIGH TANGENTIAL STIRRING FORCE IS PRODUCED TO PROMOTE MIXING OF SAMPLE WITH REAGENT AND TO OPTIMIZE SENSOR PERFORMANCE, YET ONLY SMALL SAMPLE VOLUMES ARE REQUIRED. THE APPARATUS IS PARTICULARLY SUITED FOR RATE SENSING BATCH ANALYSIS OF BIOLOGICAL FLUIDS SUCH AS BLOOD OR URINE.

摘要: A body member is disclosed which has a shape compatible with a discrete sample container and at least one ramp surface for the purpose of propelling and thereby mixing a fluid in a container as the body is rotated. A filter is attached to one end of the body member for the purpose of intercepting unwanted particles and fibers in the fluid. A magnet is embedded in the body to render the mixing body and filter combination responsive to alternating magnetic fields thereby causing rotation.
