摘要: The present invention enables automatic detection of failure in a plunger in a syringe pump unit by an automated analysis device, which includes a sample dispensing mechanism; a reagent dispensing mechanism; and a control unit for controlling operation of the sample dispensing mechanism and the reagent dispensing mechanism and analyzing the sample. The sample dispensing mechanism and the reagent dispensing mechanism each have a plunger for suctioning in and expelling liquid, and a plunger drive unit for driving the plunger. The control unit controls operation with the plunger drive unit of the reagent dispensing mechanism so that the plunger moves reciprocally by a backlash distance a predetermined number of times. Failure of the plunger is detected by detecting, using the liquid level sensing function, the amount of liquid discharged into the liquid storage container.

摘要: A method for minimizing the dead volume (Vd) in a vial (10) presenting a liquid (L) for aspiration is provided. The method comprises, after determining that the liquid volume (Vi) indicated to be available in the vial (10) is not sufficient for a further aspiration step, moving downward in direction towards the bottom of the vial (10) by means of a pipetting arm (20) presenting a pipetting tip (21) and along the z-axis of the pipetting arm (20) until the pipetting arm (20) comes to a stop in a first stop position (S1z). Then, the actual available liquid volume (Va) is calculated based i.a. on said first stop position (S1z). In case the calculated actual available liquid volume (Va) is sufficient, a further aspiration step can be executed. Furthermore, a liquid handling system for minimizing dead volume (Vd), a computer-implemented method for controlling a pipetting arm (20) of such a liquid handling system, and the use of a hysteresis determination method for minimizing dead volume (Vd) are provided.

摘要: A liquid level detection device capable of accurately detecting an interface inside a container has an irradiation unit which irradiates a side surface of a sample container containing a sample having layers with light. A light receiving unit receives transmitted light from the sample container and an analysis unit acquires the interfaces between the layers from the received amount of the transmitted light. The sample container is moved vertically relative to the irradiation unit and the light receiving unit by a first drive and is moved in the circumferential direction relative to the irradiation unit and the light receiving unit by a second drive. The second drive is controlled so that the light receiving unit receives the transmitted light at first and second irradiation angles, and the interfaces between the layers are acquired on the basis of the received amounts of transmitted light at the first and second irradiation angles.
