    Abstract: The present disclosure discloses an image conversion method for converting RGB signal to RGBW signal and an apparatus thereof. A substitution rate of a W luminance output value of respective pixels in each frame is determined according to RGB luminance input values of the respective pixels in each frame, and accumulated proportions of RGB luminance output values and the W luminance output value in RGBW luminance output values of the respective pixels within a preset time before each frame. The RGBW luminance output values of the respective pixels in each frame is determined according to the determined substitution rate of the W luminance output value and the RGB luminance input values of the respective pixels in each frame. In this way, the RGBW luminance output values of the respective pixels in the present frame can be adjusted according to a utilization rate of respective sub-pixels in the respective pixels within a period of time before each frame, so as to substantially maintain working lives of the respective sub-pixels in the respective pixels uniform as far as possible, and to further improve a service life of an entire display.

    Abstract: A method and device for image conversion from RGB signals into RGBW signals, after converting the RGB luminance input values into RGBW luminance output values, determine color-cast-removed RGBW luminance output values respectively, according to a position relationship between RGBW color coordinate values to which the RGBW luminance output values correspond respectively and a predetermined actual color coordinate value of a color having monochromatic color cast among RGBW in a chromaticity diagram, and thereafter convert the color-cast-removed RGBW luminance output values into corresponding RGBW output signals respectively and output the same. By means of the above method provided in the present disclosure, color having monochromatic shifting among RGBW can be compensated back to the expected RGBW color coordinates and luminance values, so the problems of color gamut deviation and color distortion caused by RGBW monochromatic color cast are eliminated, color gamut of the displayed image is more accurate.

The signal conversion device includes a gamma conversion unit, a brightness detection unit and a brightness processing unit, wherein the gamma conversion unit is used for performing a gamma conversion process on RGB input signals and generating RGB brightness input values; the brightness detection unit is used for generating a W brightness input value based on RGB proportional coefficients and the RGB brightness input values; and the brightness processing unit is used for generating RGBW output signals based on the RGB proportional coefficients, the RGB brightness input values and the W brightness input value. With the present invention, the brightness of a displayed image can be increased without increasing the power consumption, so that the contrast of the displayed image is increased, and the display quality of the image is also improved.
