Abstract: A method of compensating for degradation of a display device includes: determining a reference region including a part of a first display region and a second display region having pixel structures from each other; determining first stress data of first pixels based on a first average luminance value of the first pixels disposed on the part of the first display region; determining second stress data of second pixels based on a second average luminance value of the second pixels disposed on a central region of the second display region; determining third stress data of third pixels based on a third average luminance value of the third pixels disposed on an outer region of the second display region; compensating for degradation of the second pixels based on the first and second stress data, and compensating for degradation of the third pixels based on the first and third stress data.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and apparatus, including computer programs encoded on computer storage media, for compensating an image to be shown on a display including an array of light-emitting pixels and a sensor arranged to receive light transmitted by adjacent light-emitting pixels. A method includes collecting, from the sensor, a luminance of light received by the sensor during an emission-on period, and a luminance of light received by the sensor during an emission-off period. The method includes calculating, by comparing the luminance during the emission-on period to the luminance during the emission-off period, a luminance of light internally reflected from the adjacent pixels and received by the sensor during the emission-on period. The method includes determining that an error between the luminance of light internally reflected and a reference luminance equals or exceeds a threshold error, and adjusting a driving voltage for driving the pixels to reduce the error.

Abstract: The present disclosure is directed to estimating and modulating peak luminance of the display substantially in real-time to allow very bright pixels to be shown on the electronic display as long as the total electrical energy drawn by the electronic display does not exceed a threshold. The amount of electrical energy that is being drawn by the electronic display may be estimated from the image data by counting the number of rows of pixels that are emitting pulses in discrete bins of time. Because the pulses draw a predictable amount of electrical energy per row per time bin, the amount of electrical energy drawn by the electronic display may be estimated substantially in real time. The image data on the electronic display may therefore be modulated to avoid drawing too much electrical energy from the power source of the electronic device while permitting a high dynamic range.

Abstract: A display device includes a sensor, a timing controller, and a data driver. The sensor senses characteristic values of an element included in a pixel of the display device using input initialization and data voltages in a sensing period of one frame period. The timing controller calculates compensation data voltage using the characteristic values, and calculate adjusted initialization and data voltages in the sensing period by using the compensation data voltage. The data driver output the adjusted initialization and data voltages to the pixel during the sensing period in response to a control signal output from the timing controller.

Abstract: A system for monitoring displayed content, such as advertisements, has at least one sensor that is used to monitor an electronic display and provide information about the operation of the display, such as the content being displayed or whether one or more components of the display are operating correctly. The sensor is selected, positioned, and/or otherwise configured to limit the its ability to collect information in the environment surrounding the display so as to reduce concerns about the use of the sensor in a private or secure environment. The system may be used to confirm that the hardware of the display system is operating correctly and displaying the proper content at the proper times.

Abstract: What is disclosed are systems and methods of optical feedback for pixel identification, evaluation, and calibration for active matrix light emitting diode device (AMOLED) and other emissive displays. Optical feedback is utilized to calibrate pixel whose output luminance exceeds a threshold difference from a reference value, and may include the use of sparse pixel activation to ensure pixel identification and luminance measurement, as well as a coarse calibration procedure for programming the starting calibration data for a fine calibration stage.
