Abstract: This invention relates to a process for producing a recyclable ethylene-vinyl ester polymer comprising reacting an ethylene-vinyl ester polymer having an irreversibly crosslinked structure with a poly(vinyl alcohol) (PVA), via a transesterification reaction, in the presence of a transesterification catalyst, to produce a recyclable ethylene-vinyl ester vitrimer. This invention also relates to a recyclable ethylene-vinyl ester vitrimer prepared according to the process.
