    摘要: A method and apparatus for making a connection between conduits, either submerged or to be submerged, characterized by the provision of a telescoping terminus on a flowline. In some operations where the flowline is laid either toward or away from an underwater installation, it may be lowered, while maintaining the terminus substantially fixed with respect to the remainder of the flowline, to a submerged position where the terminus is spaced from the installation. Subsequently, the terminus is telescoped into engagement with an alignment means, such as a riser adapter, either through diver assistance, or by remote operation of a terminus moving means. This means may be provided by a flexible drawline, which may be threaded through the alignment means, attached to the terminus, and subsequently tensioned to telescope the terminus. Release of the drawline may be accomplished through the application of fluid pressure. Means are provided for latching the terminus into the riser adapter and for locking a slip joint between the terminus and the remainder of the flowline. Other connections between the terminus and an installation conduit may be accomplished adjacent the surface of the water. The conduit and pipeline may be lowered together, with the terminus locked, and after lowering the terminus may be freed to permit proper positioning of the installation conduit relative to the installation. Alternatively, the lowering operation may take place with the installation conduit in its proper position relative to the installation and with the terminus unlocked, whereupon relative movement of the telescoping terminus facilitates the operation of lowering the installation conduit and the connected flowline. After lowering the slip joint may be locked.

The step of simultaneously cleaning and removing is essentially performed by a pile cleanout device comprising a fluid jetting portion operable to dislodge and fragment sediment and other debris within the jacket pile casing, and a gas lift portion integral therewith to remove the fragmented matter from the interior of the pile casing.

    摘要: An apparatus for molding a cementitious weight coating upon the exterior surface of pipe segments of the type to be laid upon the bed of a body of water. The mold includes a generally rectangular frame and a plurality of longitudinally extending arcuate form means which are designed to extend approximately the length of the frame base. A plurality of base support members are positioned at longitudinally spaced intervals along the frame in a posture generally transverse and upwardly extending with respect thereto for supporting a first portion of said plurality or arcuate form means longitudinally with respect to the frame. A first and second plurality of arcuate arm support members are pivotably connected to the free ends of the base support members in a position beneath a plane extending through the center line of the mold. The arcuate arms serve to support a second and third portion of said plurality of arcuate form means longitudinally with respect to the frame. Connecting means are provided between the free ends of the first and second plurality of arcuate arm support means for rigidly securing the support arms during a molding operation.

    摘要: Method and apparatus for laying pipelines wherein an elongated ramp means is mounted on a vessel for selective pivotal movement. The ramp means supports the pipeline so as to produce a desired penetration angle of the pipeline into the body of water and is provided with a fixed clamp means for maintaining the pipeline substantially stationary with respect to the vessel during operations performed in connection with adding new pipeline sections, and with a movable clamp means for tensioning the pipeline during payout of the pipeline. An elongate pipe section loader means is also pivotally mounted on the barge for movement between a substantially horizontal position and controllable pivotal positions aligned with the inclined ramp means. In its horizontal position, the loader means receives a new section of pipe after which the loader means is pivoted upwardly toward the inclined ramp means. Thereafter, the pipe is transferred to the ramp means for continuation of the laying operation while the loader is returned to its horizontal position to receive a new pipe section.
