摘要:
An electronic device. The electronic device can include a frame including at least one aperture, the frame having a first side and a second side, an audio source located on the second side of the frame, and a front housing including a lightguide. The front housing can include a front first side and a back second side opposite the first front side, the back second side facing the first side of the frame. The front housing and the frame can create an acoustic chamber for the audio source.

A portable device includes a speaker with an active vent fed by a front of a speaker diaphragm and a larger passive vent fed by a rear of the speaker diaphragm. The outputs of the active and passive vents are acoustically coupled to respective active and passive ports, coupled together outside of the housing within an ear placement region for a user of the portable electronic device to obtain a more uniform frequency response from the speaker configuration over a larger region of a user's ear placement possibilities than would be available with the active vent alone. This is accomplished by a close acoustic coupling of the ports in combination with diverse porting of active and passive acoustic signals. The passive path also serves to relieve pressure near a user's ear to improve signal quality.

A method of optimizing audio performance of a mobile device. The method can include detecting an orientation of the mobile device. The method also can include, via a processor, responsive to the mobile device being oriented in a first orientation, dynamically selecting at least a first output audio transducer to output left channel audio signals and dynamically selecting at least a second output audio transducer to output right channel audio signals. The method further can include communicating the left channel audio signals to the first output audio transducer and communicating the right channel audio signals to the second output audio transducer.

A mobile communication device having a first housing and a second housing proximally coupled to the first housing. The first housing and the second housing can be, for example, rotationally or translationally coupled. A clamshell form factor and a rotator form factor are rotationally coupled. In another example, a slider phone form factor is translationally coupled. In these examples, the devices are configured to have an open position and configured to have a closed position. A speakerphone microphone is located in the first housing. A speakerphone speaker is located in the second housing wherein the speakerphone microphone is substantially distal the speakerphone speaker.
