Abstract: This invention relates to a method and system that only destroys documents that a party wants destroyed. The system also maintains a record of destroyed documents and saved documents. The foregoing may be accomplished by: placing information directly on a document that uniquely identifies the document; placing information in a database that uniquely identifies the document in which information was placed, and the date, if any, in which the document is scheduled to be destroyed; scanning the placed information on documents that are going to be destroyed; attempting to destroy the document; and checking in the database to determine whether or not the document should be destroyed, whereby if the database indicates the document should be destroyed, the document is destroyed, and if the database indicates that the document should not be destroyed, the document is not destroyed.

Abstract: Systems and methods for providing a locally printed replaceable control panel labels for providing an economical user interface to a postage printing device using a collocated processor are described. In one configuration, a remote data center provides Units of Information of Value UIVs of distinct denominations such as postage indicia to a Virtual Stamp Dispensing Metering VSDM printer. Custom graphic images are also processed for use and stored at the collocated processor for selective transfer to the VSDM. Using the collocated PC, the user selects certain denominations to be assigned to denomination buttons on the VSDM. Similarly, the user selects certain custom images to be associated with custom image buttons on the VSDM. The system then prints a replaceable control panel button label using the VSDM printer having zones associated with each button for printing thumbnails of the custom images and denomination icons for the selected virtual stamp denominations. The user then inserts the replaceable custom control panel label in the VSDM control panel recess under the hinged control panel window.

Abstract: This document presents a system and method for interaction with a social networking site where a user may be constrained from using some features of the site based upon pre-defined conditions. A social networking site such as a personal matching site may set a definite number of matches an individual user may make. Once all matches have been made, the user may be constrained against actions such as searching until the user has investigated those matches already made or has removed at least one match to free up a slot for the data from a new match to be entered into that slot. Constraints may be defined to prohibit any feature of the social networking site to control those features that are determined to be most subject to constraint enforcement.

Abstract: A method and system for thermal printing of secure documents. A contact thermal printing system includes: a) thermal print head having at least one heater element; and b) a thermal printer controller. The printer controller is programmed to: 1) move the print head in a predetermined pattern while the print head is in contact with a top coating of a thermal print medium; 2) overdrive the heater element during predetermined parts of the pattern to a temperature sufficient to soften or melt the top coating, thereby forming a pattern of striations in the top coating; and 3) control the heater element to print at least part of an image on the medium. The contact surface of the print head can have a specific pattern of features for forming the striations, whereby a pattern of striations formed can encode information both in the direction of the motion of the print head and transversely to the direction of motion. The pattern of striations can form a bar code. The image can be a postal indicium printed on a document which is a mail piece, or other documents having value, such as tax stamps and tickets, can be printed.

Abstract: A board that hides information in a manner that only certain authorized personnel may change the information and other authorized personnel may view the information. This invention accomplishes the foregoing by placing a locked panel of translucent material over certain information written on the board that may only be changed by an authorized individual by opening the lock. A panel of opaque material is placed over the translucent material in a manner that certain information written on the board will be revealed when authorized personnel remove the opaque material or cause the opaque material to be transparent. The translucent material may be removed by activating a switch or entering a code.
