摘要:
In accordance with embodiments of the present disclosure, a method is provided for communicating multicast traffic. The method may include in response to receipt of multicast control traffic at a network element to be communicated to a protection switching group, communicating the multicast control traffic to each of a working path and a protection path of the protection switching group. The method may also include in response to receipt of multicast control traffic via either of the working path and the protection path, processing the multicast control traffic as if the multicast control traffic was received via both the working path and the protection path.

In accordance with embodiments of the present disclosure, a switch may include a processor and a plurality of line cards, each line card including a table of addresses. The processor may be configured to: (i) read, from a first line card of the plurality of line cards, addresses relating to all flooding domains present on the first line card; (ii) store the addresses read from the first line card on a memory accessible to the processor; (iii) determine a second line card of the plurality of line cards, the second line card having the presence of at least one flooding domain not present on the first line card; (iv) read, from the second line card, addresses relating to all flooding domains present on the second line card; and (v) store the addresses read from the second line card on the memory.

In one embodiment, a solution is provided wherein a lock client sends lock requests to a lock manager upon receipt of an input/output (I/O) and receives back a lock grant. At some point later, the lock client may send a lock release. The lock manager, upon receipt of a lock release from a lock client, remove a first lock request corresponding to the lock release from a lock grant queue corresponding to the lock manager. Then, for each dependency queue lock request in a dependency queue corresponding to the first lock request, the lock manager may determine whether the dependency queue lock request conflicts with a second lock request in the lock grant queue, and then may process the dependency queue lock request according to whether the dependency queue lock requires conflicts with a second lock request in the lock grant queue.

Embodiments of the invention improve the detection of malicious software applications, such as a rootkit, on hosts configured to access storage volumes over a storage area network (SAN). A rootkit detection program running on a switch may be configured to detect rootkits present on the storage volumes of the SAN. Because the switch may mount and access storage volumes independently from the (possibly comprised) hosts, the rootkit is not able to conceal itself from the rootkit detection program running on the switch.

Methods and apparatus are provided for detecting and maintaining version compatibility in network devices. Interfaces associated with network devices and components are controlled in order to generate compatibility information at compile time. Version compatibility information embedded in image headers is checked during installation. Version compatibility information is also used to generate access control lists. Access control lists prevent incompatible device communication during run time.

In one embodiment, a solution is provided wherein a volume hierarchy may be received at a network device in a storage area network. Once the network device is ready to apply the volume hierarchy, a message so indicating may be sent. Later, a command to apply the volume hierarchy may be received and the volume hierarchy may be applied so that the network device processes IOs using the volume hierarchy.

In order for intermediary WAAS devices to process and accelerate ICA traffic, they must decrypt the ICA traffic in order to examine it. Disclosed is a mechanism by which the ICA traffic may be re-encrypted for transport over the WAN in a manner that does not require explicit configuration by the administrator of the WAAS devices.
