摘要： A portable data terminal including an elongated housing and a vertical grip. The housing has a battery well that extends traverse to a longitudinal axis of the housing. A battery pack has a longitudinal axis that, when seated in the battery well, extends traverse to a longitudinal axis of the housing, the battery pack having an integrated latch that engages a recess in the battery well.

The said optical reader in one embodiment can comprise an imaging subsystem including an image sensor and a lens assembly for focusing light on said image sensor. The optical reader in one embodiment can comprise a control circuit in communication with said imaging subsystem. The optical reader in one embodiment can comprise an illumination subsystem in communication with a control circuit. The illumination subsystem in one embodiment can comprise at least one multiple color-emitting light source. The at least one multiple color-emitting light source in one embodiment can comprise at least two independently drivable light emitting elements.

摘要： An ergonomically designed transactional terminal according to the invention in one embodiment includes a housing having a top portion partially defined by a touch screen, a base, and an enlarged head portion extending forwardly from the base to define a lip. An insert style card reader having horizontally oriented feed slot opening toward the front of the housing is disposed in the lip of the housing. The feed slot may be angled downward slightly to reduce build up in the slot and to encourage a sweeping action by a card during card removal. The touch screen may be angled downward in coplanar relationship with the feed slot to improve visibility of the touch screen and to improve simultaneous observation of touch screen and card indicia.
