A method of power down control (PDC) for a display device is to be implemented by a processor in a power down controller of the display device. The power down controller includes a main system, a main system power source, and a PDC power source. The method includes the steps of: (A) receiving power from the PDC power source, determining if the main system is to be activated, and proceeding to step (B) if affirmative; (B) turning on the main system power source, and activating the main system; (C) determining if operation in a power down mode is intended, and proceeding to step (D) if affirmative; and (D) turning off the main system power source to operate in the power down mode. Further, a state parameter is stored that allows the main system to be restored to the operating state prior to a power interruption.

Embodiments for audio classification are described. An audio classification system includes at least one device which executes a process of audio classification on an audio signal. The at least one device can operate in at least two modes requiring different resources. The audio classification system also includes a complexity controller which determines a combination and instructs the at least one device to operate according to the combination. For each of the at least one device, the combination specifies one of the modes of the device, and the resources requirement of the combination does not exceed maximum available resources. By controlling the modes, the audio classification system has improved scalability to an execution environment.

Disclosed is a people counter including a setting interface and a setting method thereof. Since a reference width used to count of a moving object within an image is visibly arranged and displayed on a screen so that a detected width of the moving object can be compared with the reference width, setting and verification for count is very easy. In addition, since the interface can be freely moved for adjustment and comparison of a reference width using a pointing device such as a mouse, thereby providing verification and resetting which are intuitive and practical over conventional manual adjustment schemes, count accuracy can be easily increased in different environments depending on conditions or type of moving objects within an image.

Multiple private advertising systems independently profile users while protecting user privacy and enabling content publishers to limit advertiser access to their content and user information. A client computer supports private profiling modules, each of which is associated with a different advertising network and is adapted to create a user profile based on the content accessed by the user. Content publishers specify profiling restrictions to limit access by private profiling modules to profiling information associated with their content. The profiling restrictions and profiling information may be included in the content or communicated separately to the client computer. Profiling restrictions and profiling information may be expressed in a markup language. Each private profiling module selects information items of interest to the user based on the user profile that it creates. Communications between private profiling modules and associated advertising networks are encrypted and communicated via proxy to protect the privacy of the user.
