The method may be carried out by configuring the first network element and the second network element to recognize the same data from the second network. Next, data may be readdressed so that it may be recognized by both network elements. After readdressed data are sent to the first network element and the second network element, the first network element may be disconnected from the first network and the second network element may be connected to the first network. Data may be forwarded from the second network to the first network with little or no loss during the switchover.

Transparent communication between iSCSI and FCoE end nodes is provided by a gateway device having iSCSI and FCoE network interfaces. The gateway allows end nodes of one protocol to communicate with end nodes of another protocol as if they were communicating with end nodes of the same protocol. The gateway accomplishes this by creating “ghost” end nodes for each protocol. For example, the gateway creates ghost iSCSI nodes corresponding to physical FCoE nodes, and ghost FCoE nodes corresponding to physical iSCSI nodes. A ghost end node of a particular protocol is able to communicate with native end nodes of that protocol as if it were a native end node, because the gateway translates packets sent from end nodes in their native protocol into the other protocol for receipt by corresponding ghost nodes, and vice versa.

A system and method for transmitting information between a source host and a destination host. A source host generates a message and forwards the message via a label switched path to the destination host so that when a central routing module receives the message, the message includes a label. A central routing module establishes a local master mapping table including a plurality of physical addresses, and each of the plurality of physical addresses is associated with a unique identifier such as a label. When a switch egress module receives the message with the label, the switch egress module determines a physical address associated with the label, maps the physical address to the message, and forwards the message to the destination host associated with the label.

A universal platform for surface acoustic wave (SAW) based sensors uses a selective sensing film coating on a piezoelectric substrate depending upon the application and the measurand to be measured. A SAW substrate with one or more IDTs and associated microcontroller-based electronics with a power supply can be implemented in the context of a common sensor platform. The platform can be mass produced and a selective coating utilized. The selective coatings can be adapted for use in a sensor involving, for example, gas sensing humidity (metal oxide semiconductors, Polymers, Zeolites), pressure, temperature (metal oxides whose conductivity vary with temperature), force, torque, strain, stress and applications associated with a variety of physical parameters.

The system and method includes a first, a second, and a third network device, with a first secure communication being established between the first and second network devices, and a second secure communication being established between the first and third network devices. Both secure communications may have replay prevention enabled. In addition, the first secure communication has a security association and a pre-defined sequence number limit less than a maximum sequence number, while the second secure communication has the same security association as the first secure communication, but an initial sequence number greater than the pre-defined sequence number limit. The system and method may also have a fourth network device with security information corresponding to the security association. The fourth network device is capable of passing the security information from the first network device to the third network device.

A system and methods for providing distributed and dynamic network services to remote access users. One of the methods includes providing a first certificate for requesting dynamic network services by a user network entity, and at least one second certificate for requesting static network services by the user network entity. According to one method, a user of the user network entity may generate a first message to request dynamic network services from a network service provider entity. For example, the first message may include the first certificate, a digital signature generated with a private encryption key associated with the first certificate and list of network service that the user wishes to set up dynamically. In one embodiment, when the network service provider entity receives the first message, the network service provider entity verifies the authenticity of the first certificate and, if the first certificate is authentic, the network service provider entity configures a network connection between the user network entity and a data network based on the network services requested by the user in the first message.
