摘要： A method of distributing and executing service logic across private and public networks for the generation and provision of telecommunication services is disclosed. The functionality and capabilities associated with both Intelligent Network (IN) and non-IN compliant elements of a public telecommunications system are abstracted using a set of control and informational parameters and variables which are associated with a given network element or network element category. A service creation and execution application programming interface provides access to a service creation and execution environment which is distributed in public network gateways, private network gateways, and in compatible software platforms. The distributed service creation and execution environment enable the generation, provisioning, and execution of applications across private and public telecommunication networks in order to provide novel telecommunication services via the serial or concurrent invocation of one or more distributed applications.

For instance, whenever wireless subscribers roam internationally they may invoke the system by keying in an Unstructured Supplementary Service Data (USSD) short code followed by the number to be dialed. Said subscriber's prepaid account is then decremented in real-time (until such account is fully depleted). A key feature of the disclosure generally is the bridging of the call legs between the wireless subscriber initiating the telephone communication and that of the receiving party through a series of general purpose databases and computers without requiring modifications to existing core network or handset infrastructure.

摘要： A method and system for routing incoming communications in a communications network are provided. The network comprises a plurality of network elements. An addressable number is associated with a plurality of communications devices each identified by a unique identifier. A communication addressed to a communications device is received at a network element, the communication comprising the addressable number. A subscriber service profile associated with the addressable number is retrieved at a discrete network element, where an appropriate communications device for delivery of the incoming communication based on pre-established criteria in the subscriber service profile is determined. An identifier of the appropriate communications device is forwarded from the discrete network element to the network element. The communication is transmitted to the appropriate communications device. The subscriber service profile comprises preferences for delivery of communications, and a list of communications devices that are at least one of active and registered.

Notably, the improved method for implementing a Wireless Local Area Network (WLAN) gateway system enables telecommunications network operators (and like entities) to rate and bill for services accessed by the wireless user.
