    Abstract: A drive module is employed for use in a hybrid electric vehicle (HEV) powertrain or in a battery electric vehicle (BEV) powertrain. The drive module serves to propel movement of the accompanying hybrid electric vehicle or battery electric vehicle. In an implementation, the drive module includes a housing, an electric motor, a gear assembly, a coolant sump, and a coolant passage. The electric motor has a stator and a rotor. The rotor has a shaft. The gear assembly has its movement driven by the shaft. The coolant passage resides in a wall of the housing. Amid use, coolant is drawn from the coolant sump via the coolant passage.

    Abstract: A liquid-cooled stator for an electric machine includes a stator core positioned within a housing. The housing includes a plurality of teeth and a back iron, the plurality of teeth defining an inner diameter (ID) of the stator core, and the back iron defining an outer diameter (OD) of the stator core. A winding arrangement is positioned on the stator core and includes a first plurality of end turns extending from a first axial end of the stator core and a second plurality of end turns extending from a second axial end of the stator core. A shroud is positioned on the first axial end of the stator core and covers the first plurality of end turns. An inner sleeve is connected to the ID of the stator core and extends in an axial direction beyond a first axial end of the stator core.

    Abstract: An electric machine having a housing assembly and a stator assembly coupled with a rotor assembly. A plurality of MOSFET assemblies are operably coupled with the stator assembly. The MOSFET assemblies are disposed in openings defined by the housing assembly and include a carrier that is secured within the openings with a press-fit engagement. The carrier defines an interior space extending the full longitudinal length of the carrier and includes at least one planar mounting surface wherein a MOSFET is mounted on the planar mounting surface. In some embodiments, the housing assembly includes an aluminum heat exchange member that defines an opening in which a MOSFET assembly is installed. The carrier may be formed by extruding copper and include longitudinally extending ribs that engage the housing assembly in press fit engagement. A method of manufacturing an electric machine is also disclosed.
