摘要: A turbomachine face seal includes a turbine wheel with a cylindrical shaft extending from the turbine wheel, defining an axis of rotation. The shaft may include a heat throttle, such as a piston ring and groove assembly, or a shaft weld pocket having an annular heat choke groove. Circumscribing the shaft is a casing and a seal ring having a groove with a seal element. To cool the seal element, a pressurized oil jet is directed toward the casing, and impinges against the casing. The oil jet may be angled or parallel with the axis of rotation. The casing may be configured to trap oil from the oil jet to cool the seal element.

摘要: A turbocharger turbine (2) includes a wastegate subassembly (50) that includes a mounting plate (51) having a bore (55) therethrough, a valve shaft (60) disposed in the bore (55), and a wastegate valve (30) including a valve body (31) and a valve arm (36) that secures the valve body (31) to an end of the valve shaft (60). The wastegate subassembly (50) is preassembled prior to assembly with the turbocharger (1), and is detachably secured to an outer surface of the turbine exhaust gas inlet (10) such that valve body (31) is positioned to control exhaust gas flow through a bypass port (13) that extends between the exhaust gas inlet (10) and an exhaust gas outlet (12), and bypasses the turbine wheel (16).

摘要: High pressure loop exhaust gas circulation is achieved in an exhaust system (10) of an engine (12) by providing an adjustable valve (100) in an exhaust passage (18) of the engine (12). The valve (100) is configured to control fluid flow through the passage (18) and generate pressure to drive the high pressure exhaust gas recirculation. The valve (100) includes a valve inner surface (110) that has a curvilinear profile when viewed in longitudinal cross section. An actuator (140) is connected to the valve (100), and is configured to move the valve (100) relative to the exhaust passage (18) so as to control exhaust gas pressure within the exhaust passage (18). In some embodiments, a pilot tube (280) is used in combination with the valve (100) to generate high pressure exhaust gas recirculation at the engine (12) intake.
