Abstract: There is provided a printing apparatus which includes the following: A printhead including a plurality of nozzles that discharge ink to a print medium. A first detection unit that detects a distance between the printhead and a platen. An adjustment unit that adjusts the distance between the printhead and the platen. An acquisition unit that acquires difference information concerning a difference of a distance between the platen and each of the nozzle on an upstream side and the nozzle on a downstream side in a conveyance direction of the print medium. The adjustment unit adjusts the distance based on a detection result of the first detection unit and the difference information acquired by the acquisition unit.

Abstract: A printing apparatus includes a feeding unit, a conveyance unit, a cutting unit, and a control unit. The conveyance unit nips the print medium conveyed from the feeding unit by a first roller and a second roller, and conveys the nipped print medium. The cutting unit cuts the print medium. The control unit: (1) performs control to make a command speed of the first roller lower than a command speed of the second roller until a printhead printing reaches near a trailing edge of a printing length after printing has started, (2) performs control to make the command speed of the first roller higher than the command speed of the second roller when the printing has reached near the trailing edge of the printing length, and (3) subsequently controls the cutting unit configured to cut the print medium.

According to the embodiment, two adjustment patterns are printed at two different carriage speeds, respectively, and a print shift due to a slant of the nozzle surface of the printhead with respect to a conveyance direction of a print medium is adjusted based on these two print results.

Abstract: An inkjet printing apparatus includes a print head, an ink tank containing ink to be supplied to the print head, a cap switchable between a covering position to cover a discharge port face and an exposing position to expose the discharge port face, a suction unit connected to the cap, and a control unit. The control unit controls the performing of an ink filling operation of filling the print head with the ink supplied from the ink tank. The ink filling operation includes a valve-closing suction operation of performing suction through the suction unit for a predetermined period of time while the cap is in the covering position. The apparatus further includes a detection unit configured to detect an ink filling state. The control unit controls the stopping of the ink filling operation in accordance with a detection result of the detection unit.
