Abstract:
A vehicle includes a sprocket member and an endless traction chain engaged therewith, the sprocket member being made up of an annular sprocket and detachable toothed segments, such sprocket being provided with openings in communication with openings provided in the segments. Such openings provide that the sprocket member is self-cleaning, with debris passing through the openings outwardly of the sprocket member.
Abstract:
A notched drive sprocket for track-type vehicles having improved noise suppression characteristics is provided. The drive sprocket includes means for absorbing impact energy of the track bushings as they engage the drive sprocket comprising elastomeric inserts disposed within the root area of the sprocket teeth. The impact absorption means further automatically eject dirt or other materials from the root area which have been compacted therein by the bushings.
Abstract:
Disclosed herein is apparatus for rotating the bushings of an assembled and in-place track of a tractor to present new bushing wear areas to the sprockets which engage these bushings. The apparatus includes a clamp member which is capable of applying rotative force to the bushing to be rotated and means for providing such necessary force.
Abstract:
A track roller assembly for use in crawler-type tractors including a shaft adapted to be secured to the track frame of the tractor and a hub journalled on the shaft. The hub has opposite ends externally threaded for receipt of internally threaded retaining caps. The caps engage and locate guide flanges on the hub and, in addition, include inwardly directed surfaces directed toward oppositely facing annular shoulders on the shaft. Thrust bearings are received between the shoulders and the surfaces and radially inner and outer annular seals are disposed about the surfaces to sealingly engage the shaft and the hub respectively.
Abstract:
A noise attenuating system for the tracks of a track-laying vehicle. A plurality of noise attenuating devices are disposed about the track chain of a track-laying vehicle, one device mounted upon each track shoe. Each device is comprised of a preloaded spring means in the form of a block or pad of elastomeric material and each device is mounted upon the inner circumferential portion of an individual track shoe. A wear plate means is included for directly engaging the radially outermost portions of the teeth of the driving sprocket of the track-laying vehicle. The devices are disposed so that the outermost edges of the sprocket teeth engage the wear plates prior to engagement of the track bushings with the sprocket notches and are also disposed so that metal-on-metal contact between the leading and trailing edges of each respective link shoe is preceeded by contact between each respective leading edge and the elastomeric material from which the spring means are composed.
Abstract:
An improved tractor roller assembly including a shaft adapted to be affixed to the tractor and a hub rotatably received thereon. The hub, on opposite ends, mounts a pair of treads as well as at least two guide flanges. The treads are defined by a plurality of convolutions, preferably in the form of a helix.
Abstract:
A track roller assembly for crawler-type tractors including a hub adapted to be journalled on a shaft and a pair of rims, one at each end of the hub. Each rim includes an annular tread and at least one radially outwardly extending, annular flange adjacent the tread. The treads and the flanges and the hub are made separate from each other and each flange is symmetrical so that it may be easily removed to be reversed and/or replaced without discarding the associated tread or the hub.
