摘要: A surgical clip for a clip applier to ligate vessels. The clip contains two opposing legs connected in parallel by an apex to form a U-shape. Each leg has an outer surface with a half-round cross-sectional configuration for minimizing tissue damage by preventing clip scissoring during ligation. Each leg has an inner surface with a flat central surface, two concave grooves on opposing sides of the central surface, and two convex ridges on opposing sides of the each groove. As a vessel is ligated, vessel tissue moves into the concave grooves while remaining frictionally engaged by the compressive forces applied by the central surfaces and convex ridges of each leg so that the clip does not move on the vessel. The edges of the grooves and the edges of the ridges of each leg are rounded to prevent any cutting of the ligated vessel.

摘要: This invention provides hermetically-sealed handle assembly with a rotating trigger for use with disposable components, such as surgical clip appliers. The rotating trigger reduces the gripping force necessary to fully control the internal actuator mechanism to operate a disposable surgical clip applier to fully ligate a vessel or other tissue. The hermetic seal on the handle assembly prevents any patient fluids and other bioburden from entering the internal structures. This reduces the possibility of cross-contamination and the costs of sterilization.

摘要: A surgical clip for a clip applier to ligate vessels. The clip contains two opposing external and internal legs connected in parallel by two external apex and one internal apex to form a Y-shape configuration. As a vessel is ligated and compressed between the two external legs, the vessel attempting to expand from its compressed position, applies outwardly lateral forces to the external legs causing them to rotate outwardly. In response, the two opposing internal legs rotate in an opposing directions to the external legs rotations to maintain the position of the clip over the compressed tubular vessel.

摘要: An actuator is movable between a first position and a second position to move a drive mechanism between a first configuration and a second configuration relative to a housing. A cartridge assembly configured to be removably coupled to the housing to couple such that the cartridge assembly is coupled to the drive mechanism. A first member of the drive mechanism moves a first member of the cartridge assembly to advance a surgical clip of the cartridge assembly in a distal direction when the drive mechanism is placed in the first configuration. A second member of the drive mechanism moves a second member of the cartridge assembly relative to the clamp mechanism when the drive mechanism is placed in the second configuration to transition the clamp mechanism from a first configuration to a second configuration. The clamp mechanism is configured to clamp the surgical clip when in the second configuration.

摘要: A long articulating steerable clip applier affixed to a user-operated handle. A surgical jaw assembly is attached to the other end of the clip applier. The clip applier is composed of articulating phalanges that are connected end to end by pivoting links and capable of angulations relative to one another when subjected to a tensile force. Each phalange has opposing s-shaped exterior grooves that form two continuous spiral-shaped channels for holding tension wires once the phalanges are assembled. Multiple tension wires are attached to opposite ends of adjacent phalanges. When each wire is pulled, this tensile force causes the phalanges to pivot at equivalent angles with each other. As each individual phalange pivots by an equivalent angle, the sum of these angles causes the free end of the clip applier to pivot by a large angle or a cascading actuation effect.
