Abstract: A particulate filter inspection system for a particulate filter includes a compressed air source, a primary conduit, a controller, a probe, and a gauge. The compressed air source is configured to draw air from an air source. The primary conduit is configured to receive the air from the compressed air source. The probe is coupled to the primary conduit and communicable with the controller. The probe is configured to interface with a face of the particulate filter to provide the air to only a sector of the particulate filter. The gauge is configured to determine a pressure of the air within the primary conduit when the probe is providing air to only a sector of the face of the particulate filter. The controller is configured to receive the pressure from the gauge, compare the pressure to a target upper pressure, and provide an indication that the particulate filter is dirty if the pressure is not lower than the target upper pressure.

Abstract: A method for cleaning a particulate matter filter is discussed. The particulate filter can include an inlet and an outlet, where the outlet includes openings to a plurality of outlet channels, and the inlet includes openings to a plurality of inlet channels. The outlet channels and the inlet channels are separated by a filer barrier. A fluid nozzle is positioned in contact with the outlet of the particulate filter over a first set of outlet channels. Fluid form the fluid nozzle is injected into the first set of outlet channels. While injecting the fluid, the position of the fluid nozzle is changed such that the fluid nozzle is positioned over a second set of outlet channels.

Abstract: A pin comprising a conical body having a central axis and a cross-sectional area that decreases with distance from a first end to a second end. A coating applied to the conical body has a melting temperature that is lower than a melting temperature of the conical body. The coating melting temperature is lower than a friction temperature and the body melting temperature is higher than the friction temperature. The friction temperature is achieved at an interface of the pin and a component when the pin is forcibly positioned into the component to repair a defect. The coating comprises a material having a first tensile strength value of a bond formed between the conical body and the component in response to softening and rehardening of the coating.

Abstract: A method and system are provided for repairing a nozzle ring having a defect adjacent a transition between a ring plate and an inner skirt of the nozzle ring, comprising: forming at least one cut to detach at least one of a portion of the inner skirt, a portion of the transition, and a portion of the ring plate, thereby forming a joint surface and removing at least a portion of the defect; providing a replacement ring including replacement components for the detached at least one of a portion of the inner skirt, a portion of the transition, and a portion of the ring plate; and attaching the replacement ring to the nozzle ring at the joint surface using one of brazing or welding.

Abstract: The present invention provides a pin comprising a conical body having a central axis and a cross-sectional area that decreases with distance from a first end to a second end. A coating applied to the conical body has a first melting temperature that is lower than a second melting temperature of the conical body, wherein the first melting temperature is lower than a friction temperature and wherein the second melting temperature is higher than the friction temperature. The friction temperature comprising a temperature value achieved at an interface of the pin and a component when the pin is forcibly positioned into the component to repair a defect. The coating comprises a material having a bond strength value comprising a first tensile strength value of a bond formed between the conical body and the component in response to softening and rehardening of the coating. The first tensile strength value is sufficiently high to restore an original function of the component at the location of the defect.
