摘要: A system in a transport refrigeration unit (TRU) for driving a compressor and/or fan(s) of the TRU by a variable frequency drive (VFD) that is operable using AC power comprises the VFD operatively connected between the compressor and one or more ac power source such as an engine-generator assembly of the TRU and/or an electrical grid. The same VFD or a different VFD is also operatively connected between the AC power source and fan(s) associated with an evaporator, and a condenser of the TRU. The VFD is configured to be operated by the AC power sources. The VFD is operable to receive a 3-phase AC power ranging from 200 to 650 volts and 0.25 to 25 KW from at least one of the AC power source, convert the received 3-phase AC power to supply AC or DC power to a motor associated with the compressor and/or the fan(s).

摘要: A heat transfer system cycles between a first mode where a heat transfer fluid is directed to a first electrocaloric module and from the first electrocaloric module to a heat exchanger to a second electrocaloric module while one of the first and second electrocaloric modules is energized, and a second mode where the heat transfer fluid is directed to the second electrocaloric module and from the second electrocaloric module to the heat exchanger to the first electrocaloric module, while the other of the first and second electrocaloric modules is energized. The modes are repeatedly cycled in alternating order directing the heat transfer fluid to cause a temperature gradient in each of the first and second electrocaloric modules, and heat is rejected to the fluid from the heat exchanger or is absorbed by the heat exchanger from the fluid.

摘要: A heat transfer system is disclosed that includes a plurality of supported electrocaloric film segments (46) arranged in a stack and connected to a frame (10). A working fluid flow path (44) extends through the stack, disposed between adjacent electrocaloric film segments. The working fluid flow path is in operative thermal communication with a heat sink and a heat source at opposite ends of the working fluid flow path. A plurality of electrodes are arranged to generate an electric field in the electrocaloric film segments, and are connected to a power source configured to selectively apply voltage to activate the electrodes in coordination with fluid flow along the working fluid flow path to transfer heat from the heat source to the heat sink. The heat transfer system further includes a film stress management mechanism.

摘要: Disclosed is a refrigeration system including a heat transfer fluid circulation loop configured to allow a refrigerant to circulate therethrough. A purge gas outlet is in operable communication with the heat transfer fluid circulation loop. The system also includes at least one gas permeable membrane having a first side in operable communication with the purge gas outlet and a second side. The membrane includes a porous inorganic material with pores of a size to allow passage of contaminants through the membrane and restrict passage of the refrigerant through the membrane. The system also includes a permeate outlet in operable communication with a second side of the membrane.
