Abstract:
An example track assembly in accordance with the present disclosure may include a pin, a bushing, a link, and a seal. The pin may define an axis, and may include opposing ends. The bushing may be positioned about the pin, and may include opposing ends. The link may have an inner face extending radially from the axis and defined by at least three portions. The three portions may include a recessed portion disposed between two non-recessed portions. The recessed portion may have a recessed face. The seal may be disposed at least partially within the recessed portion of the link. The seal may engage the recessed face of the link and may engage an end of the bushing such that a gap exists between the inner face of the link and the end of the bushing.
Abstract:
A method and apparatus is disclosed for monitoring the status of machine components of a track-type mobile machine. The method and apparatus includes a sensor system on or within a machine component of a track-type mobile machine that monitors the status or a characteristic of the machine component. The sensor system transmits the information relating to the status or characteristic to an ECU of the track-type mobile machine and the ECU performs an action based thereon.
Abstract:
A track roller assembly is disclosed. The track roller assembly may include a shaft and a cap engaged with the shaft. The track roller assembly may further include a roller shell configured to rotate about the shaft and may have a through-bore. The track roller assembly may include a crescent-based track roller seal, a toric-based track roller seal or a combination of both the crescent-based track roller seal and the toric-based track roller seal.
Abstract:
During the break-in period of track assembly components, galling can occur between the components during use. The components include a pin that is received within a bushing and alternatively a sleeve bearing between the pin and the bushing depending on the load. A method to prevent or reduce galling includes applying a coating of zinc phosphate and a low-friction layer on top of the zinc phosphate. The low-friction coating can be made of WS2 (Tungsten Disulphide), BN (Boron Nitride), MoS2 (Molybdenum disulfide) or PTFE (Polytetrafluoroethylene) and deposited during a mechanical treatment.
Abstract:
A seal assembly can be incorporated into a track pin joint assembly including a pin defining a longitudinal axis, a first member and a second member both coaxial with the pin about the longitudinal axis. The first member is pivotable about the longitudinal axis with respect to the second member and includes a load ring engagement surface defining, at least in part, an axially-extending seal cavity disposed in proximal relationship to the second member. A seal assembly including a seal ring and a load ring is disposed in the seal cavity and sealingly engages the first member and the second member. The load ring includes a main body and a neck having a neck perimeter with a first sealing blade disposed along the neck perimeter and comprising an outwardly-extending projection. The first sealing blade is adapted to sealingly engage one of the seal ring and the first member.
