摘要： Provided is a display apparatus that includes a panel assembly which has a plurality of substrates and displays images, and a filter assembly which is formed in front of the panel assembly, has a base film, a refraction control film layer that is attached to at least a surface of the base film and has a refractive index different from that of the base film, and an optical absorption layer that is formed on an outer surface of the base film or the refraction control film layer to absorb refracted incident external light. The display apparatus can increase bright room contrast by absorbing incident external light by employing a film coated with a black group color on a front surface of a panel. Also, a direct attachable filter assembly is used to remove an interface between the substrate and the filter assembly. Thus, a double image problem caused by refraction of light at the interface is prevented.

The display apparatus further includes an actuator configured to move at least one of the first optical sheet and the second optical sheet between a contacting state and a separating state, wherein the first and second optical sheets contact each other at the contacting state so that the second optical sheet outputs the second refracted light, and wherein the first and second optical sheets are spaced apart from each other at the separating state so that the second optical sheet outputs the third refracted light.

摘要： An optical filter and a plasma display device including the same are provided. The optical filter includes a support layer, and a plurality of stripe-shaped structures arranged at predetermined intervals on one surface of the support layer and formed using a material having a different refractive index than a refractive index of the support layer. In the optical filter, incident light is reflected at an interface between the support layer and the structure due to a difference of the respective refractive indices. Since the direction of entry of external light is the same as the reflected exit direction of the external light, visibility degradation caused by interference from the external light is minimized or reduced. Since the structure is formed using a material having a high transmittance, luminance loss of light generated by the display is also minimized.
