摘要： A method and device for communication, in which a random code is used in the communication. The method comprises storing a random code in a first device; storing the random code in a second device; and using the random code in a subsequent communication. The invention may be employed in a financial transaction. That is, the random codes may be used either as keys to endorse payment instructions with a digital signature; or as “virtual cash”, in which case the codes themselves are transmitted between the parties. Another application of the invention is in transferring confidential information by a “one time pad” security technique, in which a random list of numbers is used to encode the character code for a symbol, by a simple numerical operation.

摘要： Communication methods and apparatus using ultraviolet (UV) light are provided. Save UV communication devices, including remote control units, can use highly efficient UV LEDs and very low-noise UV photodetectors. In some cases, the LEDs emit light at wavelengths below 400 nm, below 320 nm, or even below 280 nm. In one embodiment, communication can be achieved using an LED that emits less than about 1 picowatt of UV energy at a photodetector distance of up to at least about 10 meters. Longer range communication can also be achieved at higher power levels. Photodetectors having very low dark currents at room temperature, such as below about 1×10−9 A/m2, are preferable.

摘要： A universal automated order processing system represents multiple (e.g., hundreds or thousands) participating merchants who offer their products through the system. Customers become qualified for using the system by supplying a set of information (e.g., name, credit card number, shipping address) that is stored in a customer database. When a customer wishes to order a product, the customer calls the system, customer identity is automatically confirmed, the customer enters a product order number and the complete order is routed to the appropriate merchant with the information necessary for the merchant to fulfill the order. Available credit verification and other aspects of credit card transactions may be handled by either the system operator or the merchant. The system operator may offer revolving credit. The system may also be used to provide potential customers of the merchants with free product information. In certain embodiments, the processing system may be used to verify customer identity at security check-in at public transportation sites (e.g., airports) or other public venues (e.g., concerts, sporting events).

摘要： The invention relates to an aqueous sizing composition including (a) an emulsion comprising alkenylsuccinic anhydride component containing alkenylsuccinic anhydride particles suspended in an aqueous polymer, and (b) a second component selected from the group consisting of cationic starches, non-ionic starches, anionic starches, water-soluble polymer, water and mixtures thereof, such that the alkenylsuccinic anhydride component is sufficiently dilute to enable the sizing composition to impart useful sizing properties to a fibrous substrate when the sizing composition contacts the fibrous substrate. The invention also relates to fibrous substrates treated with such a composition as well as processes for making and using the composition. In one embodiment, alkylene ketene dimer can be used instead of alkenylsuccinic anhydride.

Simultaneously injecting two different formulas of polyurethane into two different cavities of the same mold will significantly cut production time and cost. The dual rotating or shuffling sole-plate makes it possible to inject the outsole and the insole/upper/shaft simultaneously without fear of mixing. Similarly other poly products consisting of,two or more parts may also be produced using this complex molding system. The unique multi-station linear molding table provides the necessary platform for these special complex molds and enables the changing of molds and/or service to the equipment without fully shutting down or halting all production.

摘要： Music is blanket transmitted (for example, via satellite downlink transmission) to each customer's user station where selected music files are recorded. Customers preselect from a list of available music in advance using an interactive screen selector, and pay only for music that they choose to playback for their enjoyment. An antipiracy “ID tag” is woven into the recorded music so that any illegal copies therefrom may be traced to the purchase transaction. Music is transmitted on a fixed schedule or through an active scheduling process that monitors music requests from all or a subset of satellite receivers and adjust scheduling according to demand for various CD's. Receivers store selections that are likely to be preferred by a specific customer. In those instances where weather conditions, motion of atmospheric layers or dish obstructions result in data loss, the system downloads the next transmission of the requested CD and uses both transmissions to produce a “good copy”. In conjunction with the blanket transmission of more popular music, an automated CD manufacturing facility may be provided to manufacture CD's that are not frequently requested and distribute them by ground transportation.
