The apparatus can include a housing having an opening through which objects can be inserted for sterilization, a killing chamber having an inner surface that is substantially reflective at ultraviolet wavelengths; and at least one ultraviolet radiation source inside the housing. The methods and apparatus are well suited for medical tools, dental tools, body art tools, and baby feeding related objects.

    摘要： A method is provided for making the storage media having data stored thereon. In one aspect of the making of storage media, a first layer is formed, where the first layer is substantially transparent to a predetermined first radiant energy used for reading the data. Next, a second layer is formed on the first layer, which is substantially opaque to the first radiant energy. Finally, a pattern is formed that comprises a plurality of holes in the second layer, where each of the holes have a largest dimension which is greater than a wavelength of the first radiant energy, and the data is stored as the presence or absence of a hole in the pattern.

In the case of a user specific system that includes a face mask to supply air to a specific user, exhaled air from the face mask may be sterilized as well, either by using the same kill chamber or by using a separate kill chamber.

    摘要： A portable sterilization apparatus that includes a face mask connected to a kill chamber having an ultraviolet source to destroy biological contaminants such as viruses, bacteria and fungi in air supplied to the mask, further includes a disposable particle filter in the kill chamber for filtering out particulates prior to irradiating the air with UV light, and in the case of a mercury vapor lamp UV source, a quartz sleeve surrounding the lamp. Valves are included in the face mask to limit carbon dioxide exhalation back into the kill chamber and to facilitate exhalation of air to the atmosphere.
