Abstract: A communication management system (such as hardware and/or executed software) receives performance information indicating wireless connectivity performance between a communication device and a set of candidate wireless access points. The communication device is initially in communication with a first wireless access point over a wireless link. Based on the performance information, the communication management system selects a candidate wireless access point from the set in which to performance a handoff. The communication management hardware the notifies the communication device to handoff the wireless link from the first wireless access point to the selected candidate wireless access point.

Abstract: An antenna overlay system includes antenna hardware, a communication link, and electronic circuitry disposed on a substrate. The communication link couples the electronic circuitry to the antenna hardware. During operation, the electronic circuitry in communication with the antenna hardware is operable to control transmission and reception of wireless signals in a wireless region. An adhesive layer disposed on a surface of the substrate couples the substrate to an object such as a window. In one arrangement, the window is a low-E glass windowpane that substantially attenuates wireless signals from being received by communication equipment in a building in which the windowpane is installed. The antenna overlay system provides enhanced RF signal reception and transmission.

Abstract: A communication management resource (such as disposed at a network management node or other location) allocates bandwidth in a physical communication link to convey communication data associated with first customer premises equipment. In one implementation, the allocated bandwidth in the physical communication link is partitioned in accordance with wireless bandwidth supported by the first customer premises equipment. For example, in one embodiment, the allocated bandwidth of the physical communication link is mapped to convey corresponding data communicated over wireless bandwidth used by the first customer premises equipment. The communication management resource establishes a control channel over the physical communication link between the network management node and the first customer premises equipment. Via the control channel, the communication management resource then transmits a command over the control channel from the network management node to the first customer premises equipment. The command controls operation of the first customer premises equipment.
