摘要: Apparatus and method for an automatic mechanically-operated tarp/cover system specifically built for boats but which can be used with other types of vehicles. The present invention is intended for use with conventional boat trailers having a tongue and a pair of rear wheels which is designed to be attached to and pulled on the rear end of a towing vehicle. The present invention comprises a U-shaped hoop which is connected approximately intermediate the length of the trailer having one end of the a cover/tarp connected on the distal end of the hoop and the other end of the cover/tarp rolled up on and stored on a tarp bar mounted by a frame to the front portion of the trailer wherein the tarp/cover is carried on the tarp bar, which bar is turned by an electrical motor adapted for connection to the tarp bar. In operation, the tarp is stored on the tarp roller bar and when it is desired to cover the boat the hoop is pulled over the boat/vehicle from the front toward the rear of the boat/vehicle in order to cover the boat.

摘要: A polarization scrambler and a polarization mode dispersion (PMD) compensation system compensate for PMD on an active optic fiber. The polarization scrambler scrambles a state of polarization of an optical signal that carries user information. The PMD compensation system then receives the optical signal over the active optic fiber. The PMD compensation system measuring a differential group delay and principal states of polarization of the PMD in the active optic fiber. The PMD compensation system then determines a modification of the optical signal based on the differential group delay and the principal states of polarization of the PMD. The PMD compensation system modifies the optical signal in the active optic fiber to compensate for PMD based on the determination of the modification. The PMD compensation system then transmits the optical signal. By measuring the differential group delay and the principal states of polarization, the PMD compensation system adapts to changes in the PMD in the active optic fiber.

摘要: An apparatus for protecting against environmental contamination at a drilling site is disclosed. The apparatus is used to form a perimeter around the drilling site, the interior of which is covered by a geomembrane. The portion of the geomembrane found along the perimeter is placed in the groove of the apparatus's base. A key block is then fit into the grove, thereby holding the geomembrane in place by the tension created between the base and the key block. At those perimeter locations that will be traversed by vehicles and equipment, two ramp pieces replace the key block in holding the geomembrane tight against the base.

摘要: A method for use in computer graphics includes receiving data representative of a plurality of particles. For each particle, the method further includes calculating a time at which a collision will occur based on a current trajectory of the particle. For pairs of particles that will collide with each other, another operation includes changing a direction of the particles to avoid a collision, wherein the changed directions approximate directions that would result from the collision. For particles in static contact, another operation includes allowing particles to push each other without bouncing. For particles in static contact that were previously moved by being pushed, the method also does not allow the particles to move during future collisions occurring during a time step.
