摘要:
A display system for providing multicolor light patches for illuminating display images includes at least one light source for providing a light, at least one light pipe having an input end and an output end for allowing the light to enter via the input end and exit via the output end, and at least one color interface coupled to the output end of the at least one light pipe. The at least one color interface includes at least one color material and each color material has a different color characteristic. Light passing through the color material creates an illumination patch associated with the color characteristic of the color material. The display system further includes an optical device coupled with the at least one color interface and configured to receive the illumination patches, combine the illumination patches, and cause a combined illumination patch to be projected as a display image.

The head up display provides light from an image source. The head up display includes a waveguide assembly comprising a first waveguide for disposition at an angle with respect to a top surface of a glare shield and a second waveguide disposed at an angle with respect to the first waveguide. The first waveguide has a first diffractive coupler at a first end and a second waveguide has a second diffractive coupler at a second end. The first waveguide is positioned as a combiner and allows viewing of an outside scene and information from the image source. At least part of the first waveguide is disposed beneath the top surface of a glare shield.

A system and method for a head up display (HUD) can mitigate glare. The head up display can include a waveguide combiner including an input grating and an output grating and a glare mitigator disposed to prevent glare through the output grating from reaching an eye box. The glare mitigator can be a shade, a diffuser, a dimming element, or other device for mitigating glare. The glare mitigator can be an active or passive glare mitigator.

A method or system can be used with an aircraft or other vehicle. The system can include or the method can use a waveguide disposed above and below a top surface of a glare shield. The waveguide can be part of a head up display (HUD). The waveguide can be disposed to cover at least part of the head down display to provide an integrated display.

A disposable replacement tip for caulking tubes includes a conical first end portion tapered acutely to a distal sharpened point. The exterior of the first end portion is provided with threads, and an intake port adjacent to the sharp point extends diametrically through the tubular member. Joined to the wide end of the first end portion is a generally cylindrical, tubular central portion. A second end portion extends from the central portion in opposition to the first end portion, both end portions being aligned along a common axis. The second end portion comprises another conical tubular member tapered acutely to an open end. A continuous flow space extends from the intake port, through the interiors of the first end portion, the central portion, and the second end portion to the open end thereof. The sharpened point of the first end portion may be driven into the end opening of a caulking tube, or through the sidewall of the tube, and the device is rotated manually. The external threads of the first end portion are self-tapping and self sealing, so that the first end portion is urged proximally, piercing the blockage at the distal end opening and translating the intake port into the caulking tube to access the unsolidified, flowable material therein. All flowable material within the caulking tube is directed into the intake port and thence through the device to the opening of the second end portion, whereby all usable material within the caulking tube is discharged.
