摘要: Optical systems including an image surface and a stop surface are described. First second and third optical lenses, a partial reflector, a multilayer reflective polarizer and a quarter wave retarder are disposed between the image surface and the stop surface. A plurality of major surfaces are disposed between the image surface and the stop surface with each major surface convex toward the image surface along orthogonal first and second axes. At least six different major surfaces have six different convexities.

摘要: An optical device is described for a wide field of view optical system. A device housing has an optical opening into an enclosed interior volume. A multi-element lens is molded across the optical opening and defined by: a. a field of view representing a volume of space from which light is collected, b. a plurality of optical paths through the lens defining one or more focal planes within the interior volume, and c. a boresight axis perpendicular to each of the one or more focal planes. Optical sensors are arranged on the one or more focal planes and configured for sensing light collected through the lens from the field of view. The device forms a single environmentally hardened package configured to absorb impulse shocks without disturbing the boresight axis or the plurality of optical paths.

摘要: Provided are an apparatus for displaying a holographic image and a method of controlling the apparatus. The apparatus for displaying the holographic image includes a controller, a light source, an optical system, a spatial light modulator, a filter, an electric optical scanner, a multi-channel projection optics, and a screen. The spatial light modulator modulates a light beam passing through the optical system according to a predetermined subframe sequence of holographic image frames, the filter performs spatial-angular filtering of the modulated light beam to exclude parasitic diffraction order components from the modulated light beam, and the electric optical scanner directs the modulated and filtered light beam towards a corresponding channel of the multi-channel projection optics and forms a plurality of viewing zones on a focal plane of a field lens provided in the screen.

摘要: A head-mounted display including a first optical system is provided. The first optical system includes an image surface, a stop surface, a first optical stack disposed between the image surface and the stop surface and a second optical stack disposed between the first optical stack and the stop surface. The first optical stack includes a first optical lens and a partial reflector. The second optical stack includes a second optical lens and a curved multilayer reflective polarizer. A quarter wave retarder is disposed between the multilayer reflective polarizer and the partial reflector. The multilayer reflective polarizer and the partial reflector may be convex toward the image surface along orthogonal first and second axes.

摘要: An optical system that images a scene at two different fields of view, with switching between fields of view enabled by switchable mirrored surface is disclosed. A voltage change across the switchable mirror element generates a change in the reflection and transmission properties of the element, such that the element switches between a mirror state and a lens state. When nested in an annular reflective optic system of a given field of view, the switching element enables the opening of an additional optical path through the center of the reflective optics where a set of refractive optics are assembled into an imaging system for a second field of view. This dual field-of-view system changes field of view with no mechanical movement.
