Abstract: The present disclosure provides techniques for QoS negotiation for uplink and downlink traffic. A network device receives a Stream Classification Service (SCS) request from an associated station (STA). The SCS request comprises one or more sets of traffic class (TCLAS) information and a preferred traffic identifier (TID) value for a data flow transmitted between the STA and the network device. The network device determines a type of service of the data flow by analyzing the one or more sets of TCLAS information. The network device confirms that the type of service does not align with the preferred TID value under one or more defined network policies. In response to the confirmation, the network device sends an SCS response to the STA comprising adjustments of at least one of the one or more sets of TCLAS information or the preferred TID value to a new TID value.

Abstract: Systems and techniques for dynamically assigning virtual access points (VAPs) to multiple basic service set identifier (MBSSID) sets are described. An example technique includes generating a set of VAPs, where each VAP of the set of VAPs has a non-configured state. A first VAP configuration is received and includes an indication of a physical (PHY) mode associated with the first VAP configuration. A first VAP of the set of VAPs is assigned to a first MBSSID set, based at least in part on the PHY mode. The first VAP is configured according to the first VAP configuration.

Abstract: Techniques for uplink scheduling in a wireless network are disclosed. A wireless access point (AP) receives, from a wireless station (STA), a buffer status report (BSR) reflecting data accumulated at the STA for uplink to the AP. The AP identifies, based on the BSR, a scheduling mode under which the data was accumulated at the STA. The AP schedules an uplink parameter for the STA, based on the identified scheduling mode. The uplink parameter relates to at least one of: (i) an uplink transmission for the STA or (ii) a buffer status poll for the STA. The AP transmits, to the STA, an allocation relating to the scheduled uplink parameter for the STA.

Abstract: The present disclosure describes an access point that shifts data streams subject to QoS requirements to links that are mapped to handle such traffic. The access point includes one or more memories and one or more processors communicatively coupled to the one or more memories. The one or more processors determine, based on a first traffic identifier for a first data stream, that the first data stream is subject to QoS requirements and in response to determining that the first data stream is subject to QoS requirements, determine a first link that is mapped to the first traffic identifier. The one or more processors carry the first data stream on the first link.

Abstract: A method includes determining whether a first access point of a plurality of access points and a second access point of the plurality of access points should communicate simultaneously over a shared channel in a first network and in response to determining that one of the plurality of access points won contention of a transmission opportunity for the shared channel, dividing the transmission opportunity into a plurality of time slots. The method also includes scheduling transmissions of the first and second access points into the plurality of time slots according to the determination whether the first and second access points should communicate simultaneously over the shared channel and communicating, to the second access point and over a wired network or a second network different from the first network, an indication of whether the second access point should communicate during a first time slot of the plurality of time slots.

Abstract: The present disclosure provides techniques for Stream Classification Service (SCS) policy validation for downlink and uplink traffic. A network device receives an SCS request from an associated STA, which specifies one or more sets of TCLAS information for a data flow transmitted between the network device and the STA, each set of TCLAS information being accompanied by associated QoS profile information for the data flow. The network device compares the sets of TCLAS information and associated QoS profile information with one or more cached application profiles, and determines that there is no match. In response to the determination, the network device performs packet analysis and confirms that the sets of TCLAS information and associated QoS profile information align with the type of service of the data flow under defined network polices. In response to the confirmation, the network device applies one or more treatments to the data flow.

Abstract: The present disclosure describes a system and method for deconflicting locally administered medium access control addresses (LAMAs). An apparatus includes a memory and a processor communicatively coupled to the memory. The processor receives a request for a client device to use a locally administered medium access control address (LAMA) and determines that the LAMA is in use or reserved for future use by an access point that is out of range of the client device. Prior to the client device roaming to the access point, the processor transmits to the client device a message denying connectivity to the client device using the LAMA. The message indicates a LAMA that the client device is prohibited from selecting.

Abstract: Techniques for dynamic bandwidth expansion are provided. A first set of channel quality metrics is collected, by an access point (AP) communicating using a first bandwidth, for an expanded bandwidth beyond the first bandwidth. A second set of channel quality metrics for the expanded bandwidth is received from one or more stations. An available portion of the expanded bandwidth is then determined based on the first and second sets of channel quality metrics. Communication with the one or more stations is initiated using the available portion of the expanded bandwidth.
