    摘要： A data processing controlled display system for the interactive control of a variety of production operations is provided which offers to the operator a plurality of selectable sets of basic interactive functions, each set respectively for the control of one of a plurality of types of production operations. The operator interactively selects the one of said sets of basic functions most suitable for the control of the type of production operation which he wishes to control. There is further provided a plurality of selectable secondary functions for supplementing his selected set of basic functions for the production operation control and means for selecting at least one of said secondary functions so that the selected secondary function is combined with the selected set of basic functions into a customized interactive display interface for the control of the production operation.

    摘要： The present invention concerns a method, apparatus, and article of manufacture for selecting one of a plurality of printers attached to a server with a user interface installed on a computer networked to the server. The computer would first query a cache or the server for a first set of print options supported by at least one of the printers. The user interface is then updated to include the first set of print options. After the user interface program is used to select a print option from the first set, the computer then determines a second set of print options available with the previously selected print option. Each print option in the second set is supported by at least one of the printers that also supports the print option selected from the first set. The user interface program is then updated to include the second set of print options. After the user interface program is used to select a print option from the second set, the computer determines all the printers that support the user selected print options. After the user interface program is updated with the printers that support the user selected print options, the user interface can be used to select a printer that can handle the print job and user selected options.

    摘要： A method and system for capturing and controlling access to information in a data processing system are provided. The data processing system includes one or more operating systems coupled to a coupling facility. When one or more operating systems lose communication with the coupling facility, a surviving operating system captures some or all of the information in the coupling facility, including that information associated with the failed operating system(s). In order to capture the information when a system fails or at any other time, the information in the coupling facility is serialized, thereby preventing all access to the information except for those commands capturing the information. While the information is serialized, requests for the information are queued and then re-driven once serialization is released. If an operating system loses communication with the coupling facility during the creation of a dump, another operating system will continue the dump.

    摘要： A data processing controlled display system for the interactive display and control of a hierarchical tree of elements or objects which are selectable to display detailed views of the attributes of the child objects of the selected parent object. The invention is directed to parent objects of which the child objects are different object types. Upon the selection of such a parent object, its child objects are displayed in a plurality of separate screen regions, each respectively displaying the attributes of one of said different types of child objects. The different types of child objects may come from different levels in the hierarchy. The invention is also applicable to the hierarchical trees used in object oriented programming and particularly to situations in object oriented programming where the selected parent object is of a container class.

    摘要： Disclosed is a method, system, and program for managing calibration files in a printing system. Patches are printed using a screening algorithm and incorporating at least one output appearance factor. A calibration file is generated from measured color values of the printed patches mapping a color space for the printed patches to a color space of a printer used to print the patches. Information is associated with the calibration file indicating the printer and at least one output appearance attribute for use in selecting one calibration file to use when printing a print job.
