摘要: A reveal request is initiated through a result reveal station by a person (user) who has previously made some purchase or donation and has been assigned a number of sweepstakes entries in an assignment order from a set of available sweepstakes entries for a sweepstakes game. This reveal request represents a request to reveal one or more of the results associated with the corresponding sweepstakes entries that have been assigned to the user. The reveal station employs a game presentation including various graphics and audio effects to show sweepstakes results in an entertaining fashion. In response to the reveal request, or perhaps even prior to the reveal request, one or more sweepstakes entries are selected to be revealed for the reveal request. The sweepstakes entries are selected in an order different from the order in which the sweepstakes entries were assigned to the user. The selection of entries is based on a set of game characteristics associated with the game presentation provided at the reveal station through which the reveal request is initiated.

摘要: A passive universal gripper includes a mass of granular material encased in an elastic membrane. Using a combination of positive and negative pressure, the gripper can rapidly grip and release a wide range of objects that are typically challenging for conventional universal grippers, such as flat objects, soft objects, or objects with complex geometries. The gripper passively conforms to the shape of a target object, then vacuum-hardens to grip it rigidly; later using positive pressure to reverse this transition-releasing the object and returning to a deformable state. The apparatus and method enable the fast ejection of objects from the gripper, as well as essentially instantaneous reset time between releasing and gripping.

摘要: A method and resulting device that eliminates vertical steps or gaps in a deep trench isolation region and, thus, eliminates or drastically reduces a possibility of polysilicon stringers. Additionally, the invention allows an inexpensive dielectric material, for example a lower-quality silicon dioxide to be used to fill the deep trench and a higher quality oxide, in an electrically active region, to be used on an uppermost portion of the deep trench without affecting device performance or increasing a possibility of forming polysilicon stringers.

摘要: The Efb protein from Staphylococcus aureus has now been shown to have the ability to bind to the C3 protein which is a crucial component in the activation of complement, and a specific C3 binding region has been located at the C-terminal end of the Efb protein. Isolated proteins and protein fragments containing the Efb protein C3 binding region are thus provided which have complement inhibiting activity, and these proteins and fragments are particularly useful in therapeutic methods wherein the inhibition of complement is desirable, such as in the treatment of hemolytic anemia, the prevention of graft or implant rejection, and to alleviate complement activation that is associated with kidney dialysis methods such as hemodialysis.

摘要: Data is supplied to a double buffering process. New data is supplied to a background buffer for a displayed item. A condition is identified to the effect that the item in a foreground buffer is invalid. On the previous cycle, a similar process may have been performed such that the background buffer contains invalid items. Before swapping the roles of the buffers, any invalid items in the background buffer are validated. In this way, all item transitions appear without artefacts without adding a significant overhead.
