    摘要: A rotor of an electric machine includes a rotor core having a plurality of longitudinally extending magnet channels each containing a permanent magnet, and a plurality of moldable containers each containing a heat transfer material and each being contiguous with portions of the respective permanent magnet and its magnet channel. A method of thermal management of an internal permanent magnet (IPM) rotor includes installing, into at least one longitudinally extending magnet channel of a rotor core, a permanent magnet having opposite lateral ends. The method also includes installing a moldable container, enclosing a heat transfer material, into the magnet channel adjacent one of the lateral ends of the permanent magnet. The method further includes transferring heat from the magnet through the container into the rotor core.

    摘要: An electric machine system includes an alternating current (AC) electric machine. The AC electric machine includes a machine housing having a machine portion and a switch portion. A stator is fixedly mounted in the machine portion, a rotor rotatably mounted relative to the stator, and a plurality of switch members are arranged within the switch portion. The plurality of switch members are electrically connected to the stator. A direct current power source is electrically connected to the plurality of switch members. A controller is arranged within a controller housing and electrically connected to the plurality of switch members. The controller housing is distinct from and remotely mounted relative to the AC electric machine. The controller is configured and disposed to activate select ones of the plurality of switch member to convert DC current between the DC power source and an AC current to operate the AC electric machine.

    摘要: An internal cooling fan assembly for use with a claw-pole segment of a rotor assembly is provided that maximizes air flow while providing a reduced sound signature. The fan assembly includes a base portion that contacts the claw-pole segment when the fan assembly is mounted to the claw-pole segment. The fan assembly also includes a number of blades extending from the base portion such that the blades project outward from a plane normal to the rotor. The plurality of blades have a geometry that aligns with roots of the claw-pole segment. In addition, a first blade of the number of blades is of a first configuration and a second blade of the number of blades is of a second configuration different from the first configuration.

    摘要: Methods, systems, and articles of manufacture for fastening internal cooling fans to claw-pole segments are provided. A claw-pole segment suitable for use in a rotor of an electromechanical machine is formed. The claw-pole segment may include a base portion, at least one claw pole projecting axially from the base in a first direction, and at least one protrusion projecting axially from the base in a second direction opposite the first direction. A fan assembly that attaches to the claw-pole segment is also formed. The fan assembly may include at least one opening for receiving the at least one protrusion, and may be formed with varying configurations to affect the frequency response of the fan. The portion of the at least one protrusion extends through and beyond the opening of the fan assembly when the fan assembly is mounted on the claw-pole segment and expands in response to an application of an axial load, to secure the fan assembly to the claw-pole segment.
