Abstract: Hoses include an inner tube, a reinforcement layer disposed outwardly from the inner tube, and a cover layer disposed outwardly from the reinforcement layer, where the cover layer and/or the inner tube includes a cured composition having a sustainable content and formed from a mixture including EPDM/EPR sustainable polymer and a sulfur or peroxide based curing system. In some cases, the EPDM/EPR sustainable polymer has ethylene monomer derived from one or more renewable sources, such as, ethylene monomer derived from sugar cane. The mixture may further include one or more of recovered carbon black and sustainable oils from renewable sources. The hose embodiments may also include the reinforcement layer formed of fibers from sustainable material. The hose may contain the sustainable content in an amount of up to 75% by weight based upon total hose weight, or even greater than 25% by weight based upon total hose weight.

Abstract: Hoses including an inner tube defining a central longitudinal axis there through, a cover layer disposed proximate the inner tube, and a first reinforcement layer disposed between the inner tube and the cover layer, where a rubber compound forming one or more of the inner tube or the cover layer comprises glass beads, and the rubber compound has a specific gravity of 2.5 or less, a specific gravity of 1.3 or less, or even a specific gravity of 1.1 or less. The rubber compound may include glass beads in an amount of 100 phr or less, 40 phr or less or even 20 phr or less. In some cases, the hoses further include a second reinforcement layer disposed between the first reinforcement layer and the cover layer, and may even further include a friction layer disposed between the first reinforcement layer and the second reinforcement layer.

Abstract: A hose includes a bisphenol A curable rubber tube layer, an optional nitrile rubber friction layer disposed over the tube layer, a reinforcement layer disposed over the tube layer or optional friction layer, the reinforcement layer comprising braided steel wire, and a cover layer disposed over the reinforcing layer, where the cover layer may comprise chlorinated polyethylene. The tube layer defines a lumen in the hose, and a vapor return line may further be disposed within the lumen of the hose. Hose embodiments of the disclosure may be useful in fueling applications for vehicles using fuels such as gasoline, gasohol, diesel, biodiesel, avgas or jet fuel.
