Abstract: A glass-ceramic article comprises: a center-volume composition comprising (on an oxide basis): 55-75 mol % SiO2; 0.2-10 mol % Al2O3; 0-5 mol % B2O3; 15-30 mol % Li2O; 0-2 mol % Na2O; 0-2 mol % K2O; 0-5 mol % MgO; 0-2 mol % ZnO; 0.2-3.0 mol % P2O5; 0.1-10 mol % ZrO2; 0-4 mol % TiO2; and 0-1.0 mol % SnO2. Lithium disilicate and either β-spodumene or β-quartz are the two predominant crystalline phases (by weight) of the glass-ceramic article. The glass-ceramic article further comprises tetragonal ZrO2 as a crystalline phase. The composition of the glass-ceramic article from a primary surface into a thickness of the glass-ceramic article can comprise over 10 mol % Na2O (on an oxide basis), with the mole percentage of Na2O decreasing from the primary surface towards the center-volume. The glass-ceramic article exhibits a ring-on-ring load-to-failure of at least 120 kgf, when the thickness of the glass-ceramic article is 0.3 mm to 2.0 mm.

Abstract: A glass composition can include from 60 mol % to 69 mol % SiO2, from 10 mol % to 18 mol % Al2O3, from 2.3 mol % to 6.9 mol % Li2O, from 2.1 mol % to 6.7 mol % Na2O, and from 1.1 mol % to 9 mol % alkaline earth metal oxides. The glass composition can comprise a liquidus viscosity greater than or equal to 150 kP. The glass composition can include from 0.25 mol % to 1 mol % K2O, from 0.5 mol % to 4 mol % P2O5, and/or 0.5 mol % to 3.6 mol % B2O3. The glass composition can form anorthoclase or a feldspar solid solution. The glass composition can include MgO+Li2O−(CaO+SrO+Na2O+K2O) is from −0.5 to −4. The glass composition can include volume electrical resistivity is greater than or equal to 2×1015 Ohm-centimeters. The glass composition may have a fracture toughness of greater than or equal 0.75 MPa√m.

Abstract: A cover substrate for an electronic device including greater than or equal to 1% by weight post-consumer recycled cover substrate. A method of forming the cover substrate including the steps of (i) determining the composition of the post-consumer recycled cover substrate, (ii) determining the maximum amount of the post-consumer recycled cover substrate that can be added to a predetermined batch without causing the resulting cover substrate to fall out of specification, and (iii) forming the cover substrate from the combined recycled post-consumer cover substrate and the predetermined batch. Additionally, a method that includes steps of (i) determining the composition of the post-consumer recycled cover substrate, (ii) determining a target weight percentage of the post-consumer recycled cover substrate in a cover substrate, and (iii) determining weight percentages of other oxides to be added to the target weight percentage for the resulting combination to produce the cover substrate with a desired composition.
