Abstract:
Disclosed is a laminated glass structure with one or more inner glass layers with at least one in tension and two outer glass layers in compression wherein one or both of the outer layers at least partially wrap around the one or more inner layers at one or more of the edges of the laminated glass structure. Also disclosed is a process for forming a laminated glass structure, comprising providing a laminated glass structure, removing at least some glass from at least one the edges of the structure to produce a concavity in at the at least one edge and applying heat to the at least one edge.

Abstract:
A honeycomb plugging apparatus that reduces slumping of the plugging patty. Honeycomb plugging apparatus includes a plugging head having an open-ended cavity formed from an end wall and a peripheral wall, and a support substructure provided in the open-ended cavity. Methods of plugging and manufacturing honeycomb bodies using the honeycomb plugging apparatus are provided, as are other aspects.
Abstract:
A cement mixture for applying to a honeycomb body that includes: (i) inorganic ceramic particles; (ii) an inorganic binder; (iii) an organic binder comprising one or more of a hydrophilic polymer and a hydrophilic additive; and (iv) an aqueous liquid vehicle. The cement mixture exhibits a cement viscosity of less than 7000 Pa·s at a shear rate of less than 0.1/sec and greater than 25 Pa·s at a shear rate from 20/sec to 100/sec.
Abstract:
A method of cutting a laminate glass article is disclosed. The method comprises heating at least a portion of a laminate glass article to a reheat temperature. The laminate glass article has a core layer and a first cladding layer and is in stress characterized by a thermally-induced differential stress between the core layer and first cladding layer. The laminate glass article having been set at a setting temperature and the reheat temperature is lower than the setting temperature. The heating of the laminate glass article reduces the thermally-induced differential stress between the core layer and first cladding layer. The method may further comprise scoring the laminate glass article in the heated portion to create a score in the laminate glass article along a cutting line and bending the laminate glass article at the score to cut the glass.
Abstract:
An apparatus including: an illumination source; and a climate controlled enclosure having at least one light diffusion element situated within the enclosure, the at least one light diffusion element being in photonic communication with the illumination source, and the illumination source being remote to the enclosure. The disclosure also provides a method of using the apparatus to illuminate the interior of the apparatus and optionally the contents of the apparatus.
