Abstract: An inventory system configured for detecting and counting potentially retained surgical items within a body of a patient includes an RFID tag configured to transmit a return signal at a frequency when energized, a signal generator configured to generate an energizing signal for the RFID tag, an antenna operably coupled to the signal generator, the antenna configured to receive a return signal transmitted by the RFID tag, an imaging device configured to capture an image, a processor, and a memory. The memory includes instructions stored thereon, which when executed by the processor cause the system to energize the RFID tag, receive the return signal from the antenna, receive the image of the area including the portion of the body of the patient from the imaging device, and determine a spatial location of the RFID tag.

Abstract: An inventory system configured for reducing variability in detecting and counting surgical items includes an RFID tag affixed to a surgical item, a signal generator configured to generate an energizing signal for the RFID tag, an antenna operably coupled to the signal generator, a sensor configured to generate a signal indicative of a spatial parameter of the antenna when scanning for the RFID tag, a processor, and a memory. The RFID tag is configured to transmit a return signal when energized. The antenna is configured to receive the return signal transmitted by the RFID tag. The memory includes instructions stored thereon, which when executed by the processor cause the system to scan for the RFID tag by the antenna, sense the signal over a period of time, and provide an indication that the spatial parameter of the antenna over time meets a predetermined rule.

Abstract: A connector assembly is provided. The connector assembly includes a housing having a first end that includes one or more mechanical interfaces thereon. The at least one mechanical interface configured to selectively engage a corresponding mechanical interface on an electrosurgical generator. A second end is configured to selectively engage an end of an electrosurgical cable to couple the electrosurgical generator to an electrosurgical instrument. A plurality of splines extends along an interior of the housing and is configured for electrical communication with a plurality of corresponding electrical conductors of the electrosurgical cable.

Abstract: A computer-implemented method of object enhancement in endoscopy images includes capturing an image of an object within a surgical operative site via an imaging device, determining a size of the object based on the captured image of the object, displaying the captured image of the object, and displaying on the displayed captured image of the object a representation of the determined size of the object.

Abstract: A method of performing robotic surgery includes determining a distance between a first surgical instrument and a second surgical instrument in a surgical operative site, comparing the determined distance between the first and second surgical instruments with a threshold distance, generating an alert based on the comparison between the determined distance and the threshold distance, displaying a visual representation of the surgical operative site on a display, and displaying the alert overlaid on the displayed visual representation of the surgical operative site and in proximity to a visual representation of the first and/or second surgical instruments on the display.
