Abstract: The invention relates to a hermetically enclosed refrigeration compressor unit. The unit includes two sheet metal chambers for reducing the sound due to pressure effects. The sound reducing chambers are shallow in construction and have a common interior wall which extends upwardly between the cylinder and head of the compressor where it forms a part of the valving. Another wall of the sound reducing chambers also extends upwardly and forms a part of the cylinder head.
