    Abstract: In a rotating electric machine, a rotor includes a field core, a field coil and permanent magnets. The field core has a boss portion and claw-shaped magnetic pole portions. Each of the permanent magnets is arranged between one circumferentially-adjacent pair of the claw-shaped magnetic pole portions. A d-axis magnetic circuit and a magnet magnetic circuit share a magnetic path in at least parts thereof. Along the d-axis magnetic circuit, magnetic flux generated by the magnetomotive force of the field coil flows through the boss portion, one pair of the claw-shaped magnetic pole portions and a stator core. Along the magnet magnetic circuit, magnetic flux generated by the magnetic force of a corresponding one of the permanent magnets flows. The relationship of Ast>Af is satisfied, where Ast is a magnetic path cross-sectional area of a stator and Af is a magnetic path cross-sectional area of the rotor.

    Abstract: A rotary electric machine is equipped with a stator and a rotor. The rotor has a d-axis magnetic circuit that is produced by a magnetomotive force of a field winding, and magnet magnetic circuits that are produced by a magnetic force of permanent magnets. The d-axis magnetic circuit and a q-axis magnetic circuit have at least a part thereof that is common to both. The permeance of the d-axis magnetic circuit is smaller than the permeance of the q-axis magnetic circuit, when a load is being applied to the rotor. A control apparatus of the rotary electric machine has a switching circuit that controls the field current in the field winding, and a control section that makes the switching frequency of the switching circuit become higher when the field current is above a threshold value than when the field current is less than or equal to the threshold value.

    Abstract: A rotating electrical machine rotor includes multiple claw-shaped magnetic pole portions, permanent magnets, and a tubular outer peripheral iron core portion. The claw-shaped magnetic pole portions face a stator in a radial direction, are arranged with clearance spaces in a circumferential direction, and are alternately magnetized to different polarities in the circumferential direction by power application to a field winding. A permanent magnet is arranged in each clearance space such that the polarity of each of side surfaces facing the claw-shaped magnetic pole portions in the circumferential direction is the same as the polarity of a corresponding one of the claw-shaped magnetic pole portions. An outer peripheral iron core portion covers an outer peripheral side of the claw-shaped magnetic pole portions. The outer peripheral iron core portion has a tubular body portion and magnet holding portions configured to hold the permanent magnets.

    Abstract: In a rotary electrical machine, a rotor has a field core, a field winding, and a cylindrical short-circuit member. The field core has a cylindrical boss part and a plurality of magnetic pole parts that are disposed on the outer peripheral side of the boss part and in which magnetic poles of different polarities are alternately formed in the circumferential direction. The field winding is wound on the outer peripheral side of the boss part. The short-circuit member is disposed on the outer peripheral sides of the magnetic pole parts and magnetically connects together the magnetic pole parts adjacent to each other in the circumferential direction. A surface of the short-circuit member opposed to the stator is formed in a concave-convex shape in which protrusion portions protruding along the radial direction and groove portions recessed along the radial direction are disposed alternately and continuously with each other.

    Abstract: In a rotor for a rotary electric machine, a claw pole assembly includes first claw poles and second claw poles. An annular cover member covers the outer circumferential surfaces of the first and second claw poles. The pole cover segments and the inter-pole cover segments are alternately arranged in the circumferential direction of the rotor. Each of the pole cover segments has a circular-arc shape around a first center, and each of the inter-pole cover segments has a circular-arc shape around a second center different from the first center. The first circumferential width of each pole cover segment and the second circumferential width of a corresponding one of the inter-pole segment adjacent to the pole cover segment have a predetermined ratio. The predetermined ratio varies in an axial direction of the rotor.

    Abstract: A rotating electric machine includes a stator and a rotor. The rotor includes: a field core having at least one boss portion, a pair of disc portions and a plurality of claw-shaped magnetic pole portions; a field coil arranged between the at least one boss portion and the claw-shaped magnetic pole portions; a plurality of permanent magnets each of which is arranged between one circumferentially-adjacent pair of the claw-shaped magnetic pole portions; and a ring-shaped fixing member fixed to radially inner parts of the claw-shaped magnetic pole portions to support the claw-shaped magnetic pole portions from the radially inner side. Moreover, a d-axis magnetic circuit and a magnet magnetic circuit are at least partially coincident with each other to share a common circuit portion. When field current is supplied to the field coil, the permeance of the d-axis magnetic circuit is lower than the permeance of a q-axis magnetic circuit.
