Abstract: In a rotor for a rotary electric machine, a claw pole assembly includes first claw poles and second claw poles. An annular cover member covers the outer circumferential surfaces of the first and second claw poles. The pole cover segments and the inter-pole cover segments are alternately arranged in the circumferential direction of the rotor. Each of the pole cover segments has a circular-arc shape around a first center, and each of the inter-pole cover segments has a circular-arc shape around a second center different from the first center. The first circumferential width of each pole cover segment and the second circumferential width of a corresponding one of the inter-pole segment adjacent to the pole cover segment have a predetermined ratio. The predetermined ratio varies in an axial direction of the rotor.

Abstract: An armature which radially faces a magnetic field-producing unit equipped with a magnet unit having a plurality of magnetic poles includes a housing, an armature core, a multi-phase armature winding, and bus bars. The housing includes a cylinder and a disc-shaped end plate placed in contact with one of axially opposed ends of the cylinder. The armature core is disposed on a portion of the cylinder which radially faces the magnet unit. The armature winding is disposed on a portion of the armature core which radially faces the magnet unit. The bus bars electrically connect phase windings of the armature winding together. The armature also includes a bus bar module which is of a circular or C-shape extending along the circumference of the armature core. The bus bar module is secured to the cylinder, the end plate, or one of axially opposed ends of the armature core.

Abstract: A rotating electric machine drive system includes: a rotating electric machine equipped with: a rotor having one magnetic pole configured by permanent magnets, and a salient pole portion that is magnetically convex in a radial direction; and a stator wound with a multiphase stator winding; an inverter for supplying electric power to the stator winding; and a control unit for controlling energization current of the inverters. The control unit performs energization control of the stator winding such that a fundamental wave current at a fundamental frequency synchronized with a rotational speed of the rotor, and a harmonic current that is triple the fundamental frequency flow in the stator winding, and such that energization of the harmonic current generates a stator magnetic field having a specified lead phase or delay phase with respect to a third-order magnetic field of the rotor.

Abstract: A multi-gap rotating electric machine includes a rotor, a stator core and a stator coil. The stator core has inner and outer core parts respectively located radially inside and outside of the rotor and each having partially or fully closed slots. The stator coil is formed of electric conductor segments each having a first leg portion inserted in one of the slots of the inner core part, a second leg portion inserted in one of the slots of the outer core part, and a connecting portion connecting the first and second leg portions on one axial side of the rotor. The first and second leg portions respectively have radially inner and outer coil end parts formed on the opposite axial side to the connecting portion. Corresponding radially inner coil end parts are joined to each other, and corresponding radially outer coil end parts are joined to each other.

Abstract: Each of phase windings includes parallel windings for each phase connected together in parallel, and the parallel windings include power-wire partial windings connected to a power supply side, neutral-line partial windings connected to a neutral point, and at least one of a set of 5-pitch and 7-pitch jumper wires, the power-wire partial windings, the neutral-wire partial windings, and the jumper wires being included in the plurality of partial windings forming the parallel windings. For two of the three phases, each of the 5-pitch jumper wires and a corresponding one of the 7-pitch jumper wires overlap each other, and for the remaining single phase, two of the 5-pitch jumper wires are spaced from each other in the circumferential direction, and each of the power-wire partial windings is adjacent to another power-wire partial winding for an identical phase or to a corresponding one of the neutral-line partial windings for a different phase.
