摘要： An image forming apparatus includes an image bearing member on which an electrostatic image is to be formed; a rotatable supporting member, configured to support a developing device for developing the electrostatic image and configured to rotationally move the developing device toward a developing position, provided movably in a rotational axis direction with respect to a main assembly of the image forming apparatus; an urging member for urging the rotatable supporting member in the rotational axis direction. In addition, a regulating portion regulates a position of the rotatable supporting member, with respect to the rotational axis direction, urged by the urging member. The rotatable supporting member includes a first rotatable member provided movably in the rotational axis direction at one end side of the rotatable supporting member with respect to the rotational axis direction, and a second rotatable member provided movably in the rotational axis direction at the other end side of the rotatable supporting member. The urging member urges the first rotatable member and the second rotatable member apart.

摘要： An image forming apparatus forming an image on a recording material includes an image bearing member; a rotary rotatably provided in a main assembly of the apparatus; a locking member; and a developing cartridge detachably mounted to the rotary, wherein the developing cartridge includes a developer carrying member for developing a latent image formed on the image bearing member, a demountably mounted covering member for covering a surface of the developer carrying member, and an engaging portion which is movable between a first position in which it is projected beyond an outer surface of the covering member to engage with the main assembly locking member when the rotary is rotated in a forward direction which is a direction of rotation during image formation, and a second position in which it is retracted from the outer surface of the covering member.

When a sheet feeding device is in a standby position, the over-stack protective portion is held in a position in which the over-stack protective portion is in pressure contact with sheets having the maximum stacking height capable of being fed and supported by a sheet supporting portion. Also, when the sheets are to be fed, the pressure contact of the over-stack protective portion with the sheets having the maximum stacking height is released.
