摘要: A method of making a mold from a model is disclosed. A mold carrier is formed having an aperture therein. The aperture has a configuration generally corresponding to the shape of the model. The model is positioned within the aperture such that a space is created between the outer peripheral surface of the aperture and the outer peripheral surface of the model. A resilient first material in its liquid state is poured into the space such that the first material substantially covers the outer peripheral surface of the model. The resilient first material is allowed to solidify in the space such that a resilient mold insert is formed. The mold insert forms an impression of the outer peripheral surface of the model and is disposed along the inner peripheral surface of the aperture. The model is removed from the resilient mold insert. A second material in its liquid state is poured into the aperture of the mold carrier with the resilient mold insert disposed along the inner peripheral surface of the aperture. The second material is allowed to solidify such that a duplicate of the model is formed. The duplicate replicates the outer peripheral surface of the model because of its contact with the resilient mold insert. The duplicate is removed from the resilient mold insert. A mold is formed from the duplicate. The mold formed is used in making replicas of the model.

摘要: The invention is directed to a midsole for a shoe including one or more foam columns disposed between an upper and a lower plate. One or more elastomeric foam elements are disposed between the upper and lower plates. The foam elements are made of a material such as microcellular polyurethane-elastomer based on a polyester-alcohol and naphthalene-disocyanate (NDI). In one embodiment, the foam elements have the shape of hollow cylindrical columns, and may include grooves formed on the exterior surface. One or more elastic rings are disposed about the columns and are removably disposable in the grooves, allowing the stiffness of the columns to be adjusted. In a further embodiment, inflatable gas bladders are disposed in the hollow regions. The heights of the gas bladders may be less than the heights of the columns such that when the midsole is compressed, the wearer experiences a first stiffness corresponding to compression of the columns alone, and a second stiffness corresponding to compression of both the columns and the bladders. Alternatively, the bladders may be inflated so as to cause the columns to be stretched, even when no load is applied. Since the level of inflation of the bladders may be adjusted, the overall stiffness of the midsole may be tuned to the individual requirements of the wearer.

摘要: The present invention provides a cushioned shoe sole having an outer sole layer for contacting the ground surface and a midsole layer disposed above the outer sole layer including an opening formed vertically through at least the top surface thereof. An inflatable bladder element having an unobstructed interior cavity is inflatable with a fluid medium and removably positioned in the opening in the midsole layer. When inflated and snapped into position in the opening, the bladder is therefore visible through at least the top surface of the midsole. The present invention also provides a method of making a cushioned shoe sole by forming an inflatable bladder with a hollow interior cavity defined within the perimeter of the bladder forming a foam midsole having an opening generally extending in the vertical plane and a peripheral cavity around at least a portion of the perimeter of the opening. Thereafter, snapping the inflatable bladder into the preformed opening in the foam midsole such that the perimeter of the bladder is disposed within the cavity of the opening and a cushioned shoe sole is obtained. The bladder can also be viewed through an opening in the top and/or bottom surfaces of the midsole.

摘要: A system for custom fitting athletic shoes to an individual wearer includes a foot measurement device, an adjustable footform and an infrared activation chamber. Shoes of a single width for each length size have at least a portion of the upper made of heat malleable material to be custom fitted for width. Foot measurement data is used to calculate length size, width size and a number of custom adjustment factors. After the length size is calculated, the appropriately sized shoe and last are assembled together and subject to infrared radiation until the heat malleable material becomes plastic. Adjustments are then made to the last in accordance with the adjustment factors to provide custom width sizing. After further heat treatment to set the shoe upper and cooling, the shoe is complete. In this manner, if used in a retail setting, shoes are custom fitted to the wearer in a matter of minutes.

摘要: Interior members for foot-receiving devices, such as bootie elements for articles of footwear, include a material element at least partially defining a foot-receiving chamber. This material element may include, in some examples, a heel-surrounding portion, a lateral side portion, a medial side portion, and a seamless plantar portion in a continuous, one-piece arrangement. Additionally or alternatively, in some examples, the material element may include a heel-surrounding portion, a lateral side portion, a medial side portion, a plantar surface, and a double layer of the material element at least along an Achilles area portion. Additional aspects relate to material blanks for forming such interior members as well as to foot-receiving devices, such as athletic footwear, including such interior members.

摘要: An article of footwear includes an upper and a sole assembly. The sole assembly is secured to the upper and includes a support assembly. The support assembly has a plurality of primary tubular members spaced from one another and extending laterally across at least a portion of the sole assembly. A plurality of secondary tubular members extends laterally across at least a portion of the sole assembly, with each secondary tubular member positioned between and interconnecting a pair of adjacent primary tubular members.
