摘要： Processes and systems for thermoforming articles of wear are disclosed. The process can include utilizing a negative pressure generation system to seal an article in a forming material thereby compressing the forming material onto the outer surface of the article. The process can also include exposing the sealed article to an increased temperature followed by exposure to a decrease temperature, while maintaining the compressive force of the forming material on the outer surface of the article. A positive pressure can also be applied to the sealed article while undergoing the heating and/or cooling steps, which can facilitate the removal of bubbles from the article during thermoforming as well as apply additional compressive force to the outer surface of the article.

A strand that is at least partially formed from a thermoplastic polymer material may extend through the seam, and the strand may be thermal bonded at the seam. The woven textiles or knitted textiles may be shaped or molded, incorporated into products, and recycled to form other products.

The use of rapid manufacturing allows for relatively economical and time efficient manufacture of customized articles. The articles may include one or more reinforcements configured to provide added durability to various regions of the articles. In addition, the articles may be formed from two or more materials in a single rapid manufacturing process. The rapid manufacturing additive fabrication technique may also include using of varying intensities of the laser to fuse material to form the articles.

摘要： A method that enables the use of a single preform-charge fixture to create preform charges suitable for creating a chiral part and its mirror image is disclosed. The method utilizes a preform charge having a flat-planar form, unlike the near net shape preform charges used in applicant's legacy methods. Two identical instances of a preform charge are fabricated from the preform-charge fixture. The first instance of the preform charge is placed, in a first orientation, in a first compression mold for fabricating a first part. The second instance of the preform charge is placed, in a second orientation, in a second compression mold for fabricating the second part. The second orientation is obtained by rotating the second instance of the flat planar preform charge 180 degrees relative to the first orientation about an axis that is parallel to a reflection axis of the first and second instance of the preform charge.

The disclosed methods can be used to manufacturer articles with sub-regions that exhibit differing degrees of fusion between the foam particles, thereby resulting in sub-regions with different properties such as density, resilience, and/or flexural modulus.
