    摘要: A gas furnace responsive to a thermostat includes a thermal switch wired in series between the furnace power supply and the thermostat. A microprocessor connected to the thermal switch detects when the switch opens and closes, carrying out prearranged programs in response thereto. The thermal switch is mounted so that it opens when an over-pressure in the furnace draft system is detected, as evidenced by hot flue gasses passing over the thermal switch probe. The switch is allowed to cycle at least one time before the furnace is disabled. After a certain period of the time, the combustion cycle is reinitiated and the above steps are repeated if the thermal switch again resets.

The vent system may include an outer pipe and an inner pipe having a longitudinal section that is permeable to water or water vapor and is longitudinally disposed within the outer pipe. As the moisture and/or heat are transferred from the flue gas to the intake air through the longitudinal section of the inner pipe, the efficiency of the furnace may be improved and the NOx emission of the furnace may be reduced.

    摘要: An improved flue gas sensor of a combustion device is disclosed. The flue gas sensor may include a housing and a gas detector disposed within the housing, wherein the gas detector detects or measures at least one gas in a flue gas stream of the combustion device. The housing may also include a water barrier member through which the at least one gas comes into contact with the gas detector. By keeping water and water vapor away from the gas detector, premature failure of the flue gas sensor caused by corrosion may be prevented.

    摘要: A two-stage induced draft furnace is operated at either high heat or low heat with the gas valve switched to high-fire or low-fire. High-fire and low-fire combustion pressure switches sense the collector box flue gas pressure and actuate respective solenoids of the gas valve. Under some conditions the inducer can produce sufficient negative pressure at low fire to prove the high fire pressure switch and cycle the burners on high fire. To prevent this, relay contacts are interposed between the high fire pressure switch and the gas valve solenoid to deny thermostat power to the high-fire solenoid whenever there is a call for low heat.

    摘要: A furnace having the capability of operating its blower continuously is provided with means for automatically shutting off the blower at the beginning of a heating cycle and for resuming the operation thereof only after a predetermined time has elapsed to allow the heat exchanger to heat up to a temperature that exceeds the dew point of the flue gas, to thereby reduce the occurrence of cold spot corrosion in the heat exchanger. Provision is also made, in a two speed blower system, for operating at a lower speed during continuous mode and heating cycle operation, and for operating at the higher speed during the cooling cycles.

    摘要: A system and method of monitoring the performance of an HVAC system including a controller in communication with an HVAC unit where the method includes monitoring environmental conditions using a controller. A target rate of change in indoor air temperature (IATR) can then be established. One or more adjusted environmental values can be adjusted to account for the adjusted IATR measurement. An adjusted IATR value can be established using one ore more equations adjusting for a target sensible capacity value of one or more environmental factors in comparison to the measured sensible capacity of the one or more environmental factors to determine the adjusted IATR. The environmental factors can include but not limited to the indoor air temperature, indoor humidity, outdoor air temperature, and any other measured parameter that could affect system capacity. The system can generate an alert when the adjusted IATR value reaches a pre-determined threshold. Similarly, the system can generate and display the results to a user via graphic user interface, such as a monitor or smart phone display.
