摘要: An animal deterrent mat with animal detection capability. The animal deterrent mat produces a detection pulse that is attenuated when an object makes contact with the animal deterrent mat. The animal deterrent mat monitors the amplitude of the detection pulse and compares the measured detection pulse amplitude to one or more threshold values. When the amplitude of the detection pulse is below an upper threshold corresponding to the attenuated signal caused by an animal making contact with the animal deterrent mat and, optionally, above lower threshold corresponding to the attenuated signal caused by another object making contact with the animal deterrent mat, such as a human, a deterrent pulse selected to deter the animal from crossing or remaining on the animal deterrent mat is generated. When the amplitude of the detection pulse is below the optional lower threshold, no deterrent stimulus is generated.

The two-probe bark control device includes a housing, a first probe, and a second probe. The first and second probes include first and second electrodes, respectively. The first electrode is secured to the housing by way of a resilient overmolding such that the first electrode extends outwardly from the housing and has the potential to vibrate within the housing. The housing is carried by the animal such that the first probe detects the bark of the animal and the first and second probes deliver an electrical stimulus to the animal in response the first probe detecting the animal's bark such that the first probe both detects the animal's bark and delivers an electrical stimulus to the animal.

摘要: Apparatus and methods for measuring the quantity and size distribution of nep-like entities in a fiber sample. An individualizer presents entities, such as fibers and neps, to a laterally elongated acceleration/deceleration gas flow nozzle having a laterally-extending sensing volume defined within the nozzle perpendicular to gas flow through the nozzle. The feed rate is such that multiple individualized entities are simultaneously presented to the sensing volume. A sensor output device produces a signal indicating the total amount of material within the sensing volume at any given point in time, such that the sensor output signal has a background resulting from fibers, and occasional signal pulses representing neps. An analyzer samples the signal at a sampling rate at least approximating the transit time of a nep-like entity through the sensing volume, and employs pre-sample and post-sample averaging background suppression to recognize a signal amplitude indicative of a nep-like entity.

摘要: An alignment system having an angular position sensing device using an accelerometer to determine the angular position of the device. Preferably, the angular position sensing device incorporates two dual-axis accelerometers oriented in a spaced apart relation for determining the angular position of a rotating body in space. The angular position sensing device is operable to account for centrifugal and angular acceleration errors due to the rotation of the rotating body in space, thereby providing an accurate angular position of the rotating body. The angular position sensor also determines the angular position of the rotating body based on a sensing axis having the greatest range of sensitivity according to the angular position of the rotating body.

摘要: A method for acquiring misalignment information as to centerlines of first and second in-line shafts utilizing a shaft alignment system including an analyzer having a memory. A sensor head mounted on the first shaft at an initial angular position relative to the centerline of the first shaft includes a microprocessor having memory, a collimated light source emitter for transmitting a collimated light beam in a first direction corresponding to the centerline of the first shaft, a detector having a detecting surface for detecting a collimated light source from a second direction corresponding to the centerline of the second shaft, and an angular position sensor for determining an angular position of the sensor head as the head is rotated about the centerline of the first shaft. The sensor head is rotated in a first or a second rotational direction relative to the centerline of the first shaft. As the sensor head is rotated, an impinging collimated light beam is detected from the second direction on the detecting surface of the detector. Positional information is acquired as between the centerlines of the first and second shafts as the collimated beam impinges on the detecting surface of the detector. The method of data acquisition includes defining either the first or the second rotational direction as the acquisition direction and committing positional information to the memory of the microprocessor only if the positional information was acquired when the head was rotating in the acquisition direction.
