摘要:
The present disclosure relates to concatenated optical spectrum transmission systems and methods that allocate optical spectrum of groups of channels to reduce or eliminate deadbands or guardbands (i.e., unused optical spectrum) between channels. The concatenated optical spectrum transmission systems and methods include various techniques for using optical spectrum such as over the C-band or any other frequency bands. In particular, the concatenated optical spectrum transmission systems and methods provide a balance between fixed channel systems such as provided for by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) and a more flexible system enabled by coherent optical detection. In an exemplary embodiment, the concatenated optical spectrum transmission systems and methods may utilize a Wavelength Selective Switch (WSS) and a plurality of moderate Common Mode Rejection Ratio (CMRR) coherent receivers in combination to achieve a concatenated optical spectrum.

A method, a network element, and a network include determining excess margin relative to margin needed to insure performance at a nominal guaranteed rate associated with a flexible optical modem configured to communicate over an optical link; causing the flexible optical modem to consume most or all of the excess margin, wherein the capacity increased above the nominal guaranteed rate includes excess capacity; and mapping the excess capacity to one or more logical interfaces for use by a management system, management plane, and/or control plane. The logical interfaces can advantageously be used by the management system, management plane, and/or control plane as one of restoration bandwidth or short-lived bandwidth-on-demand (BOD) connections, such as sub-network connections (SNCs) or label switched paths (LSPs).
摘要:
A method of modulating an optical carrier. A target carrier modulation is computed based on an input data signal. An effective length of an optical modulator is then controlled based on the target carrier modulation.

The present invention provides a method and system for processing media data on a host processor. The method and system involve receiving media data, generating clocking signals, transferring media data to host processor buffers, generating media transfer done interrupts for each media data stream and generating an override interrupt to indicate to the host processor to process the media data. The override interrupt has high priority and effectively indicates to the host processor to forgo all other scheduled tasks and to start processing the media data.

A method and device for monitoring moisture content level of a solid dielectric material, or paper, immersed in a dielectric fluid, or oil, both of which having respective moisture content, and known water solubility properties varying with temperature. The device includes a moisture detector and a temperature detector for measuring moisture content level and temperature level of the oil, respectively. A microprocessor, electrically connected to both the moisture and the temperature detectors, computes the moisture content level of the paper. The microprocessor has the known water solubility properties of the paper and the oil stored therein and processes the oil moisture content level and the oil temperature level so as to determine the paper moisture content level. The latter being displayed on a display connected to the microprocessor.
