    摘要: The cooking chamber is defined at least in part by at least two pairs of oppositely disposed first and second wall structures, each of the wall structures including at least one slot opening for the passage of air therethrough. The rotating valve is in heated air distributing communication with the first wall structure and in return air communication with the second wall structure of only one of the two pairs of oppositely disposed first and second wall structures at a selected point in time such that heated air is passed through the slot opening in the first wall structure into the cooking chamber and return air from the cooking chamber is passed through the slot opening in the oppositely disposed second wall structure and to the rotating valve for return to the heat source. The rotating valve is capable of rotation to be in heated air distributing communication with the first wall structure and in return air communication with the second wall structure of the other of the two pairs of oppositely disposed first and second wall structures at a subsequent selected point in time.

    摘要: An improved apparatus and method for ultrasonic inspection of materials through barriers such as gaps in manufactured parts is disclosed. The improvement herein is directed to enabling such ultrasonic testing to bridge ambient gaps such as intentionally formed gaps in composite structures having a first structure for originally receiving and transmitting sound separated by the gap from another structure to be inspected. Preferably, the gap is flooded with a gas having a predictable and optimum speed of sound relative to the material of the first and second structures. Sound is propagated to the first structure in a wave packet that is transmitted through the couplant fluid. The sound is generated in a wave packet having a spatial width at least twice the dimension of the gap to be bridged. The wave packet has a contained frequency having a wavelength (relative to the speed of sound of the gas flooding the gap) to create a constructively interfering standing wave node within the gap. The sound propagated to the gas-filled gap has a wavelength which is a half-integer with respect to the gap dimension. Sound passes through the first structure, creates a standing wave node in the gas-filled gap, passes into and acoustically interrogates the second structure for flaws and reflects. Reflected ultrasoound from the interrogated second structure again bridges the gap as a constructively interfering standing wave, passing through the primary structure and then through the couplant fluid to a transducer for receipt and analysis of the received ultrasound.

    摘要: In operation, the device is lowered with paired lines attached to both housing lugs but suspended under tension only from one line to one lug so that the streamline housing is vertically disposed. With the housing vertically disposed during lowering, obstacles can be avoided such as the guide rod for the steam separator and dryer as well as the feedwater and core spray spargers. When lowered to the vicinity of the ledge and cover plate to be inspected, the slack line is fished around any obstacle and thereafter placed under tension. The streamline housing is then lowered using both lines in a horizontal position so as to expose downwardly the pedestal and rubber foot. Lowering is completed with remote camera assistance. Sample sweeps with the ultrasound transducer of spaced apart sections of the cover plate weld are used for precise centering of the pedestal and rubber base with respect to the center of the cover plate. Repeatedly logging a longitudinal excursion of the ultrasound detector with indexed rotation of the housing permits scanning entirely around the weld of the cover plate. This enables remote ultrasound survey of the weld of the cover plate for stress corrosion cracking.

    摘要: A microwave moderator for partially attenuating and/or modifying microwave energy to achieve, for instance, more uniform cooking of comestible articles in microwave ovens. Packages, bags, and wraps are disclosed which comprise such microwave moderators and which enable microwave cooking of frozen foods at relatively high microwave oven power levels without requiring precooking, defrosting or oven power level changes. Such a moderator may comprise an array of alternately disposed or spaced areas of microwave reflective material, and complemental-shape, substantially microwave transparent zones. One species of such moderators is exemplified by a wrap which comprises a perforate sheet of microwave reflective material; for instance, aluminum foil. In embodiments comprising such a perforate sheet, the perforate sheet is provided with a plurality of generally uniformly spaced apertures which are sufficiently large with respect to the wavelength of the microwave energy that a substantial portion of such microwave energy directed at said moderator will pass therethrough. The moderator may also include a sheet of microwave transparent, moisture barrier material such as thermoplastic film which is selectively foraminous or perforated to control the passage of vapor (for venting) and liquids (for draining) through the moderator. A dynamic, temperature responsive microwave moderator is also disclosed which will change from being relatively transparent to microwave energy or having a predetermined degree of microwave energy transmissibility to being substantially less transparent or substantially opaque to microwave energy or to having a substantially diminished degree of microwave energy transmissibility when heated to or above a predetermined temperature.

    摘要: An energy conserving tracking tag for receiving a radio frequency location data signal from a global positioning satellite and for communicating with a tracking system. The tag includes a receiver circuit for receiving the location data signal from the global positioning satellite, a customer ID module for generating a unique tag identification signal, a transponder circuit for receiving command signals from the tracking system, and a power circuit electrically engageable with a battery power supply and an external power source. The tag also includes a programmable microprocessor in electrical communication with the power circuit, receiver circuit, customer ID module, and transponder circuit. The microprocessor is operative to collect the location data signal, the identification signal, and the command signals, and subsequently produce an composite output signal. The transponder is further operative to transmit the composite output signal to the tracking system by radio carrier wave.

    摘要: A single antenna poly-frequency Continuous Wave (CW) Doppler radar system having leakage cancellation. The system provides for transmitting a plurality of carrier frequency signals and receiving the return signals by means of a single antenna coupled to an antenna interface through which a portion of the transmitted signal may leak. The signal appearing on an output port of the antenna interface is then down-converted to an intermediate frequency (IF) signal by a stable mixing signal. The IF signal is coupled to an adder which in turn is coupled to an output. The IF signal is further split into a pair of cancellation loops for each carrier frequency signal. Each cancellation loop includes a correlator and provides for processing the IF signal with an in-phase or a quadrature-phase signal associated with the carrier frequency signal so that each pair of cancellation loops outputs a feedback signal representative of and equal to the amplitude of the leakage signal only, which feedback signal then being subtracted from the IF signal with the resultant return signal less the leakage signal then being transmitted for further processing. Preferably, a second order linear feedback circuit and phase compensation circuit is provided in each cancellation loop for processing of the IF signal.The disclosed system does not require high precision, high cost oscillators and has particular application in military radars, navigation radars and vehicular collision warning radars.
