Abstract:
A technique for network planning that includes an interface for guiding a network user through the network allocation process, such as defining groups of clients based on their capabilities. Portions of the wireless local area network infrastructure, e.g., access points, are allocated among the groups. When a client attempts to associate with an access point, the access point determines the client capabilities. If the client is supported by the access point, the access point allows the client to associate and sends the client a message that contains a prioritized list of other nearby access points allocated to service that client, otherwise the access point sends a prioritized roaming list of nearby access points to the client that are allocated to serve that type of client. Feedback is provided by the network infrastructure enabling a network user or the network to automatically reallocate resources based on the feedback.
Abstract:
Methods, apparatuses, and systems directed to reliably providing emergency services to wireless clients. In one embodiment, a wireless client determines if an attempt to transmit an emergency message exists. If so, the wireless client determines if one or more wireless access points support expedited bandwidth capabilities. If so, the wireless client notifies one of the wireless access points that the wireless client has an expedited bandwidth request.
Abstract:
Methods, apparatuses, and systems directed to facilitating troubleshooting wireless connectivity issues in a wireless network. In accordance with one embodiment of the present invention, either a diagnostic supplicant in the wireless client or a diagnostic manager initiates a troubleshooting protocol between the diagnostic supplicant and the diagnostic manager over a diagnostic link in response to one or more events. In one embodiment, after the diagnostic supplicant establishes a link to a diagnostic manager via a diagnostic link, the diagnostic supplicant generates and transmits a problem report to the diagnostic manager. The problem report initiates a troubleshooting protocol between the diagnostic manager and the diagnostic supplicant.
Abstract:
An apparatus for reducing the stresses placed on a cantilevered component mounted to a rigid frame includes cushioned bushings coupling the cantilevered component to a rigid frame. As the cantilevered component is loaded due to bending moments, the cushioned bushings flex and cushion the cantilevered component. The cantilevered component is retained within the bushing using hardware that allows the cantilevered component to float as needed to further reduce stresses and strains thereon.
Abstract:
Mesoporous conductive niobium and niobium-ruthenium particles and methods for forming the same are described. In some cases the particles are suitable for use as a fuel cell catalyst. The described aerosol-based synthesis method allows for single step formation and processing of the particles.
Abstract:
This documents relates to potassium channels, SUR2A polypeptides, mutant SUR2A polypeptides, and isolated nucleic acids encoding such polypeptides. In addition, this document provides methods for identifying an individual at risk for cardiac disease, methods for identifying an individual who will not respond to, or who is not responding to, conventional treatment of sepsis and/or hypertension, and methods for screening an individual that has had a poor outcome with catecholamine induction for a deficiency in cardiac KATP channeling. This document also provides methods for treating an individual for a deficiency in cardiac KATP channeling.
Abstract:
A method, an apparatus, and a carrier medium carrying computer readable code segments to instruct a processor to execute the method. The method is in a wireless network that includes at least one access point. The method includes, from time-to-time, measuring a first set of at least one property of each access point of a set of at least one classified access point of the wireless network. The method further includes re-classifying each access point based on at least one function of a second set of at least one property of the access point, the second set of properties including the first set of properties. The set of at least one access point is classified according to a set of AP classifications, and the re-classifying is into one of the AP classifications.
Abstract:
A concrete wall panel for tilt-up construction provides polymeric peripheral elements defining panel and orifice edges and medial fastening strips extending in the panel between the peripheral elements, all of which remain as part of the finished panel to accept traditional self-penetrating nail, screw and staple fasteners historically used in wood construction. The peripheral elements are of solid configuration to provide a form for pouring plastic concrete that forms the panel embodying them. The fastening strips extend through the panel between opposed panel surfaces and are formed by two initially releasably interconnected elements defining voids therebetween to allow thickness adjustment and convenient placement and support of structural components within the panel. The fastening strips define spaced areas to receive traditional wood fasteners and may carry index strips on opposed exposed surfaces to visually indicate strip location and fastening areas. The peripheral elements allow joinder of adjacent panels with each other and both the peripheral elements and the fastening strips allow joinder of structural elements on one or both panel surfaces by self-penetrating fasteners of wood construction.
Abstract:
Novel catalytic materials and methods for producing the same are shown and described. The present disclosure provides catalytic materials formed from producing an alloy of an oxophilic metal and a metal having electro-oxidative activity using spray pyrolysis. The present disclosure further provides methods and mechanisms for both detecting and removing hydrazine from a system.
Abstract:
A search algorithm to find a globally optimal radio plan for a wireless network, including assignments of frequency and transmission power to multiple access points. Two different evaluation metrics are used in order to provide an optimal solution in a reasonable time period. Frequency searches are performed using a special rapid evaluation metric. Transmission powers are selected using a more refined metric that estimates data throughput. The search results are deterministic and execution time is also substantially deterministic.
